I absolutely love mushrooms and toadstools in the wild.  I always have but as I found my niche in art, I have to think a lot of it is because of their fractal-like appearance.  They are beautiful.  I also love lichen too.

This is a very beautiful photo.

Thank you! Yes, mushrooms can be quite fratal indeed. There is something mystical about them. I don't like the word "toadstool" very much

I was raised on a farm and it was common at times to see toads, (not frogs) around them. I always thought it was a whimsical name for mushrooms.  I love the art that shows toads setting on them.  But I understand your point.

My pleasure!

For some reason, title makes me think the mushrooms are actually growing from a dead corpse's wound.

This was growing in a crack of a live tree but in dead wood.

Often this ends up killing the tree, but mushrooms are so beautiful.

Some live in symbiosis, some live on dead tissue and others kill.

wonderful image one of the few mushrooms you see in the cold snowy weather, this mushroom also has a common name of velvet shanks due to the stems darkening and fluffing with age. I Japan it is commercially grown & sold as a health beneficial fungi under the name Enoki mushroom.

Thanks, that's nice to know but the problem is I have never come across another one but at least I would recognize it if I did
I eat some well known mushrooms but my main interest in fungi is aesthetics. Nomenclature is also quite intriguing, thanks again.

seems to be? like it may be a new subspecies?

With my research I think it is but I'm not an "expert" on fungi. A new subspecies? I wouldn't go that far.
It was taken in a city street in this region.
