Here's a picture of a player's character in an Elder Scrolls campaign I'm running in Savage Worlds. He's a redguard with leather armor and silver shortswords.

After I drew the image and inked it, I scanned in onto my computer and directly imported the scan to Inkscape, where I then converted the it to lineart, used the fill tool to add color, using the filling outlines to fade the black line, put the drawing on top, then put in a border square, and a colored square behind everything for the backdrop. I really like how the technique worked, though might have the outlines match the color fill to leave crisper black lines on the exported image.
