Description

After having gotten the Vallejo paint set "Orks&Goblins" at Christmas it had itched me to do some Orks with different shades of green. Luckily enough I still had some Feral Orcs lying around, which are rather sparsely equipped in the clothing department, so there would be lots of skin exposed to greenify.

Due to my camera refusing to let the flashlight work the image is a bit dark but it'll have to do for now (if I get a better shot it will be replaced)

From left to right:

As a somewhat common paint combination, this cheerleader for my BloodBowl Orc team was painted with Goblin Green and got a wash of Thraka Green.

The next one also got its base color in Goblin Green, but this one was then treated with Flesh Wash (which despite its name is actually an ink), which is how I do all my Orks for WH40K, hence why he also got a Slugga and some ammo belts.

Also I did him for a lame pun: since he goes full commando I naturally added him to my unit of Ork Kommandoz (that's also the reason for the red in his face, the units signature mark)

Number three got a basecoat with Bile Green (a very light green almost bordering on yellow) and then a wash with Thraka Green, except for the weapon and the shield which got a black wash (which went on oddly strong, almost like an ink but there was no reason to change that)

In the very middle I used Falcon Turquoise and (to enforce the green-ness since turquoise borders on being blue) Dark Green Ink. i then had to rework the teeth and bones a bit, since that ink made them appear as if they were slightly covered with moss, which is an interesting effect (I learned something new!) which might come in handy at some other place.

The next one happened due to pragmatism: by now I had some Bile Green and Falcon Turquoise on my palette, scooping it back into their containers wasn't really feasible, so not to let them go to waste I mixed them and got some medium dark pastel green (or whatever) and finished the model with Armypainter Quickshade Strong Tone.

On to the second to last; here I wanted to get a very dark green (for this one it is the most annoying that the flash didn't work), so I used Bronze Green (which by itself is already one of the darker greens) and then treated the model with ~50% thinned down Black Ink.

And finally, an Ork which I began with a non green basepaint. I used Light Olive (which by and large is a light brownish grey or greyish brown) and did some highlights with a mix of Light Olive and Cadmium Skin before I then applied Thraka Green.

While he is somewhat pale he turned your greener than I had anticipated but it was an interesting painting excercise.
