Those cameras are actually really great. My mom has two, actually...and I almost prefer to use hers sometimes, over mine. lol.

I have owned a couple pocket camera's, and Canon by far has become my favorite brand. They work spectacularly for Macro shot's. Although I do prefer my SLR just for the simple fact of its easier to focus on what you want to focus on

Yeah, I really like Canon's for that, too. I use a Nikon, and I've always loved it...but Canon's do actually take better shots sometimes. Granted, SLRs are better in my opinion, too. But I am rather fond of my mom's camera, too. Haha.
