Description The Caribbean Mallardee thrives in the tropical waters of the West Indies of Specworld. This strange cousin of the jackalopes spends almost all of its time in the water browsing sea grasses, with only the females waddling to shore to lay eggs every year. Even the mating takes place in shallow coastal waters. It is considered to be the most aquatic non-avian dinosaur in existence. The individual depicted above has harmless algal growth on its back - this is typical for older individuals.

Amazing work, as usual. You probably can't imagine the way Spec blew my mind when I first came across it, and your drawings played a huge part in this.

It's true, I'll never be able to see the Spec creatures through the eyes of someone who wasn't actively involved in designing them from ideas to execution. But it warms my heart every time I hear someone was positively impacted by our project.

It was awesome what you and your crew did, and I still sometimes come back to Spec - via Wayback Machine - because it's pretty much sui generis when it comes to speculative biology. And you're continuing being an inspiration to me

Did you have a species of bright yellow duckgong, or am I misremembering?

It's possible. I think I've answered to someone before that Dan named one of my duckgongs the lemon duckgong, but I wasn't really involved in that process (back then I still believed it would be best if the natively English speaking members of the project wrote the descriptions, plus I think I was already ill back then).
