That is a great critique. I am glad you dig my sword. (Man, I hope that sounded right!)

Okay, I have to ask it. How do you get such a clean white background? Is that photoshopped or is there a trick to doing it with just a camera?

I was using the studio lights. One is shining directly on the white background to overexpose it so that it would appear all white. Light to model's left, reflector to her right. Then a touch of Photoshop leveling and VOILA! We have it!

why aren't you out shooting?

I am...or rather...I'm IN shooting. It's dark outside, and it's not safe in this neighborhood to be out after dark...actually, it's not all that safe to be out during the day, but that's a different story. Anyway, I've got my dorm all set up to give some thing a try, I'm kinda in between shots right now. ^_~ I'm paying close attention to framing with the camera, and I'm experimenting with some creative lighting. I used some foil like you said, and I borrowed a tinted bulb from a neighbor to see if it'll help create softer light.

cool. Too bad you aren't digital. You could post something now. Does your lab have color enlargers?

*crinkles nose* I detest digital. I'm old-fashioned. But oh well. My lab does have colour enlargers, BUT I have to be in the colour class to use them. I'm in Black and White. I wouldn't know what to do with them anyway. The lab where I work has a machine that does all the colour prints. All I have to do is tell it what colour modifications it needs based on the negatives. (If they look too green or too red, etc.)

Try doing a B&W enlargement using only the magenta color on the color enlarger. I double dog dare you. Pick a neg where you want rich blacks...

that one is a World War One officers sword. It is pretty cool. Every time my friend sees it, she has to hold it for the rest of the night.
