Description Y'all remember the picture I recently updated, right? [link]

Well, I've been thinking about that story a lot lately, namely of how the man (he still doesn't have a name! :U) and the giant robot Little Brother end up together in the first place.

In truth, it was all an accident. He just wanted to grab a few things to sell off in the Hub city, and go about his life... but some of the Machinists' old toys are apparently still working.

(a deep, baleful moan, not quite the grinding of metal, not quite a vocalization, and the distant sound of clanking and steam hissing...)

I agree with Jared, to much black in my opinion. Even if it is night time. I like the shot though.

I didn't use any black - just dark reds and greens, aside from the bright blue of the floodlight.

And it isn't night - they just haven't paid the electric bill in a couple thousand years.

I see, they looked like black to me. Maybe lighten them a bit.

*shrug*

Just a suggestion, feel free to disregard.

Give the robot the mind of a child, not literally thou. Just a suggestion.
I think you could push the blue and red lighting more, giving him more of a silhouette. Don't be afraid to draw the two out, give them basic colors, the shade and light them on separate layers to see what you get.

In a way, it does have a child's mind. It's very docile, and it's made to follow orders or work as a part of a "Hive-Mind" - it can't function on its own, which is why it starts following him.

I did this without linework - just blocking in colors. I wanted to keep it simple, and I think if I'd gone into how the light from the eyes reflects off of the pipes and dents and everything on the head, it would have taken away from the effect I was looking for. I want the floodlight and the eyes to be the main focus on the robot.

I also didn't want to reveal its exact shape, because the floodlight is so bright, it creates a hard silhouette on the human. I thought it'd be an interesting balance to have a strong one and an ambiguous one.

Granted, You probably have a point - there isn't any real light coming from the background...

Yea, I just think you could go farther, and could add more detail, your not going to reveal too much info.
Or just a cool thought that I'd like to see, is the light coming from the ground, like a flare or a knocked over flood light, just to reveal him but not the guy, to create an ominous feeling.
