I seem to have gotten into an unfortunate habit of uploading more to tumblr than deviantArt! Oops!Here's the first thing I drew after films were done: ridiculous shiptease for a ship that shouldn't exist! Or I guess you could view it as my interpretation of Jekyll's early relationship with Hyde: rather than being frightened and intimidated by his darker self, Jekyll saw Hyde as an escape from his life during his gloomier moments, an intoxicating alter-ego he could vanish into whenever his own life was too overwhelming. Not until too late does he realize that he's let Hyde have far more control of his life than he wants!
....or it's just silly ship-tease.

not really. In the original version, it wasn't mentioned. But then the Jekyll-Hyde-mirror interaction became a popular headcanon thing since...IDK... the Dr. Pinkie and Ms. Pie Confrontation animatic?

For some reason, the whole story of Jekyll and Hyde reminds me of Halestorm's The Familiar Taste of Poison.

my idea about this book is when your life is the same day after day you become inside your head and idea of have another you but the poor hyde the crazy alter ego is only the dark desires of jekyll and later you lose the control of the alter egos trust me i got a lot of them ...

I love the way you draw people. I especially love Hyde's hair and the way you draw how he carries himself.
Though, I have to wonder how his hair and eye color change when he transforms in your artwork... Unless he's sort of like The Incredible Hulk in that sense. XD

I'm afraid that's quite canon! Hyde looks different enough from Jekyll that no one he knows would recognize him. :3 His appearance doesn't always change in adaptations of the book because a) it's an acting challenge to make them different characters without the aid of make-up and b) a lot of times a full make-over just wasn't practical or would look hokey on a live action actor.
Though I guess you could call it a 'Hulk' thing, since the Hulk is a loose adaptation of Jekyll and Hyde!

D: Theoretically speaking, I also have to wonder how his transformation, wheather it was brought on by potion abuse or phychological hiccup--or both--can change his form so drastically, so quickly! I can understand a gradual change from potion abuse, or a gradual change as the dominant personality changes the body to his liking...

I believe the idea came from the notion of "Social Darwinism" which was popular at the time! People believed that people who were wicked were actually less evolved humans than upright standing citizens, and that they would carry physical deformations (generally the thought is they would appear more ape-like, a detail I choose to ignore due to the rule of sexy). Of course this theory is long debunked but it's a cool bit of fake science!

Lovely interpretation and great colouring style. I love how hyde's hand is over the hand with which jekyll is holding his drink.
