Description I just found out yesterday that "Tombstone Twins", the 36 page all-ages graphic novel I worked on earlier this year for Capstone Books won't be out until December or January. I had no idea they worked so far in advance! Anyway, I've been given the go ahead to show some preview pages (sans text), so I thought I'd give you a peek at my process for this book (roughs/digital inks/colors).

These pages were drawn and colored in Photoshop CS4 using a Wacom Cintiq 21UX.

When I took the gig I requested that I be able to letter the layouts so that I can compose the panels appropriately. I always letter my own comic roughs as I work because I believe that the art and lettering should work together and not compete for page real estate. One of my biggest pet peeves is when comic book lettering is treated like an afterthough as opposed to being an importnat part of the layout process. Luckily, my editor on the project happily agreed and allowed me to provide lettering guides to Capstone's internal lettering department.

This book was a dream to work on. Not only did I get paid (the first time I was paid for comic work!) but I only got two requests for changes during the entire process. Being on the same page style-wise with my project manager made this a great experience, one I hope we can repeat on a follow-up book. I'm told that may happen, so fingers crossed! I also may have a chance to pitch some projects of my own to Capstone very soon, so I have even more fingers to cross!

Thanks for looking!
