Description

A dual-bladed, retractable push dagger of unknown origin, Nightwalker was found in the same cave as the White Flame. Accompanying it was a note declaring that the weapon was meant for the "Witness," who it implied was meant to use it to slay the Bladed Man.

The weapon is deployed by pressing down on the sheathe/housing, which activates a mechanism that pushes the back portions of each blade out further from their slots; the user then flicks his or her wrist, which propels the blades completely out of their slots and thrusts them forward along their tracks while simultaneously pushing out and rotating each arm downward. When the blades reach the end of their tracks, the inertia sends the two bars that make up the grip forward, locking them and the blades in place until the user unlocks them by pushing each of them back. Doing so triggers a secondary mechanism that causes the blades to automatically retract. The weapon is deceptively sturdy, being able to withstand a measure of force far greater than the human arm is capable of producing.

This weapon is excruciatingly painful for anyone but its intended user to touch, causing a sensation not dissimilar from grabbing a hold of a hot coal. The final distance of the blades implies that it was made with a specific user in mind; the fact that Steven Somers, born possibly centuries after its creation, is both a perfect fit for the weapon and immune to the pain raises some interesting questions about who forged this weapon.
