Description Hermione pacing impatiently up and down outside the tent amused him greatly, if only because she was being her old self. And in those moments, Ron could forget about everything else.

'What's wrong?' he asked, interrupting her.

'You ask me?' She glared into the depths of the tent. 'You know what's wrong.'

It was Ron's watch, but she had decided to keep him company, to restrain herself from yelling at Harry and getting absurd responses as he lay on his bed, playing with his Snitch, again.

'We have. To make him. Stop,' she said, punctuating her words with kicks at the ground. 'He doesn't want to do anything except dream about those Hallows; we can't go on like this forever!'

She sighed bitterly.

'It's all my fault. I shouldn't have linked Dumbledore's real symbol with Lovegood. Why did I get us there?'

'Because we needed to do something,' Ron said. 'It wasn't your fault.'

'I would have never imagined that Harry would fall for that!' she added, ignoring Ron's last remark. 'Death's belongings... If he believes such a myth is real, why don't believe in... in...?'

'...in real Invisibility Cloaks, in huge snakes hiding in a pipe? In bits of soul lying around, or maybe in a party for ghosts? Come on, Hermione.' Ron stood up and approached her. 'Before you found you were a witch, how much of what we've seen would you have thought to be real? It's magic, you know. You need to... think outside the box sometimes.'

She looked at him, bewildered.

'That's what McGonagall said to me and my parents when she told us I had been accepted at Hogwarts.'

'Uh... well, then you know what I mean. That's what my dad's always said about Muggles, that it's hard for them to believe in certain things. I've often wondered how was it that you believed.'

'I had to. It was the only viable explanation for what was happening to me,' Hermione replied, and, suddenly, Ron thought he could see the frightened 11-year-old girl in front of him.

'The Hallows could be the only explanation to this, I reckon,' he said in a low voice.

All trace of surrender and calmness disappeared. Hermione glared at him now, irritated.

'No, it isn't. And as you said, we need to find Horcruxes, not Hallows.'

'All right, I get it,' Ron replied, backing away from her to his cushions at the entrance of the tent. 'Blimey, I think Harry isn't the only one obsessed about the Hallows after all.'

'What is that supposed to mean?' she asked threateningly.

'That you're obsessed about not being obsessed with them,' Ron retorted, grinning, but before she could snap at him, he added, 'At least spring is coming.'

'So?'

'We'll find more berries soon.'

Sure enough, she followed his pointing finger with her eyes and saw a blossoming bush.

I really like this, especially the part about him seeing a frightened eleven year old Hermione. Compared to Ron and Harry, Hermione's family life is hardly explained at all, which I've always found a shame, so I really like the way you wrote that bit

Yes, same with me. I've always thought JK might have reflected a bit of her own family in Hermione's, but she just didn't enlightened us about it.

mmm, I guess it's because Hermione came from a muggle family so it was less interesting... but yeah, I wish she'd written more. like Hermiones birthday. that isn't mentioned once in the book, and they never go to her house, but they go to Rons all the time... oh well.
