Description So, something that has been bugging me for the last week and at first I was going to ignore it but it literally makes me sick every time I think about it.

There is another deviantart user WHO SHALL NOT BE NAMED, but although honestly a few of you probably know who I'm talking about considering that I do not like this person, let me absolutely clear about that, and we've gotten into arguments for the past- let's say five months, always on MY PROFILE by the way because I have manners but they like bringing themselves to my profile and swearing up and down that they're not here to start something, while literally starting something with me or one of my friends.

So I was fed up with this toxic person because they were giving me migraines and demanding that I explain things to them or debate with them or whatever, but I'm a busy person and don't have time to hold this person's hand and they were clogging up my art with their comments, so I decided to block them, and they proceeded to write a journal about me complaining about it.

That's not what bothers me.

What bothers me is the deliberate misuse of my pronouns and the consistent misgendering of my identity all over their journal.  And I honestly cannot stand the idea that there is a piece of writing about me in the world that wrongly identifies me and uses words that I'm not comfortable with and shedding an incorrect light on who I am as a person that is VERY IMPORTANT TO ME.  And they cannot claim ignorance because the FIRST TIME they wrote about me they were able to use the correct pronouns, so they damn well know that I'm aware of it.  They swear up and down they respect me but this is such blatant disrespect and it disgusts me.

So you know, here's some Stevonnie, a canon character with no gender (As confirmed by Rebecca Sugar) who honestly means a lot to me because I've never seen an enby person on television or popular media that looks like me. Respect your Enby friends.  Respect their pronouns. Respect their Identity.

Wonderful art! I feel bad that people (especially talented people like you) are judged and miss-represented because of their gender (or lack there of). I'm happy you blocked that person from filling up the comments with mean things

Haha wow I didn't even know that stevonnie didn't have gender I sort of just assumed all gems and gem fusions were female my bad XD
ps sorry about your issues with the person, but I think you did the best thing which was to cut them off. tbh I don't think all the stress and arguing would be worth it.

Yeah Rebecca did an AMA on reddit about it awhile ago and she answered a lot of questions about Gems and how Gems function, and she basically said that while Gems look like Earth Women and use she/her pronouns they are essentially genderless.  That doesn't mean that they CAN'T have gender identity tho, I'm sure if they choose to identity as women, they would.  Someone asked Rebecca why Gems use she/her pronouns and Rebecca answered that it was basically a 50/50 chance on which pronouns Gems would choose to use and those where the ones they happened to pick. This is one thread where she answered the question about Gem's gender specifically: www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments…

lol oh cool I also kind of figured they didn't care and that they were like this whole other entity cause they're not you know from earth so gender stuff doesn't apply to them and I figured they were like me and settled for basic gender pronouns cause its just easier that way. Thanks for sharing the link lol

No problem.  I'm a wealth of useless information.

I don't know how somebody can be 'non-binary' if they have reproductive organs which therefore gives them a gender.I'm just saying that getting this angry because someone assumed someone else was a male or female due to most people having genders isn't really a positive reaction to the stimulus of said reaction considering most people, including myself, don't understand how all of this works. And unlike most ''trans-gender'' or ''gender-confused'' people where they made major changes to create said labels or lifestyles it seems that the "Enby" people can be...Anyone as a matter of fact.Anyone can have said title if they say they are.Which is the reason not many people recognize it.Also I think that you might be going about this a little bit wrong, you are explaining how it is so important to you and how people's statements or opinions on your gender are offensive to you,but you don't really explain why or how or what being 'non-binary' is besides "I have no gender like the majority of people and you must respect that".Also due to reading this it seems like this ideology is being forced upon them abruptly instead of explaining this like I said earlier.I'm not going against or supporting anyone I'm just explaining some of the reasons the person is doing what the person is doing.

I don't want to start an argument this is just my opinion. But I didn't really see it for myself so . . .

Still,I hope the whole thing that person and you been going through hasn't really been that much of a burden lately.Maybe a calm conversation can help.

I literally state five times on my profile that I'm nonbinary, my signature includes my pronouns, and I've written multiple journals and talked to several people on dA on what it means to be nonbinary and have made so many posts on the subject that if you type "NonBinary Irkens" into google my main tumblr blog is the first hit so maybe don't come here and assume that I don't talk about it or that this art is the first time I've ever mentioned it because I assure you that is not the case friend.

Also no one here on my profile has ever seen what I really look like besides one cosplay I put up and everyone was confused and no one could tell what my gender was and I had at least fifteen different messages asking me what I identified as because they honestly couldn't tell.
