Nice work with those ruined mechanical creatures. They remind me of a mix between the colossi from Shadow of the Colossus, the Guardians from Zelda Breath of the Wild, and the robot from Castle in the Sky.

yes I think everyone does. I also want to see if I am right about the connection between Chloe and the Captain, it is the only thing that makes sense.

They are mother and daughter. Chloe don't know, and the Captain had to abandon her baby with the only man capable of helping her, a scientist of advanced robotics who could give her the sufficiently advanced prosthetics to give her a normal life.
The Captain wants to make sure Chloe is strong, and to be part of her life, but she can't reveal who she really is, as her many enemies would than be able to hurt her thought Chloe, so she took on the role of the antagonist.
That way, she can be the extremely competent and dangerous opponent she appears, yet allow Chloe and her friends somehow always escape unscratched, she loves her, and is proud of what she have become.

It is important to understand this. Chloe is not a robot, she is just as much human as everyone else, she just have cybernetic limbs, and that can only have happened because she lost her real limbs in an accident, or in a crime. No one voluntarily cuts of their arms and legs, especially not a child. And at most Chloe is 12.

So my guess is, that something horribly happened shortly after her birth, and that this convinced the Captain that she had to give up the child for Chloe's own sake. She also properly couldn't just walk up to the scientist tell him: please help my baby. She have a reputation and even if she wanted to, she can't retire from it.
Chloe's ignorance of her origin is the only thing protecting her, at least until she is strong enough to defeat the Captain on her own.
