Description I was just chatting with a few people about the virtues of sketching in pen (no pressure to erase and make it right, no sharpening, no smudges, good training to be fearless ).Β  Anyway, I thought I'd upload a collection of stuff from my sketchbooks, all done with a regular old cheap ballpoint, and no pencil.Β  For the ones on toned paper, I also used a white gel pen for the highlights.

The one in the upper left is from an Andrew Loomis book; the hands are mine; and the others are just sketched from ads in magazines.

Thanks very much.Β  Yes, give it a try.Β  It's not the ultimate drawing implement, but it's better than you might expect.

It's basically a ballpoint with white ink, but they call it a gel pen or jelly roller because of the type of ink. Β It's sort of viscous and doesn't flow as well, because it has to be so opaque. Β They actually come in lots of different colors. Β You can probably get them at Walmart (maybe not white), but definitely at an art supply store. Β The white ones are popular tools.

Actually, your sort of flowing creations might look really cool done on colored paper with white highlights added.

I may have told you this before, but yeah, I love pen. I think I'm so much better with a pen because I have to be more accurate.

Yes and if you would ever post some of your pen work, we could all admire it *ahem*

Pft.
It's mostly sketches and doodles, but I'll definitely try to post more of my traditional art.
