I look back on those past days,
When everyone was younger.
There were no social groups,
And it didn’t matter what you wore.
We didn’t think about growing up.

Running around with each other,
Before politeness and manners mattered.
We didn’t have to sit proper,
And dirt and grime was a common thing.
That’s how it was when we weren’t grown up.

We had time to just sit and laugh,
And we took pure delight in just the littlest things.
There was innocence in our eyes,
And wonder at the whole world in our heart.
It didn’t matter if we grew up.

Those childish games of Cops and Robbers,
The endless alliances and betrayals.
They didn’t really mean anything,
Because we were all friends when it was over.
That was the best part of not growing up.

Playing Across the Lava,
And tumbling around on the grass.
As simple as it sounds,
It was always fun when with your friends.
That was the fun of not being grown up.

Having fun as we went,
Because each day was a new surprise.
Our sense of the future was small,
Because back then, the future was only tomorrow.
We didn’t understand the idea of growing up.

Laughing with each other in the sunlight,
And taking joy together at night.
Those were past days of running until your lungs burst,
Without a worry as of what will happen in the future.
That was before we grew up.

Now there is regret and worry,
And no time to go back to how it was.
If I knew then that this is how the future is…
I would have never grown up.
