Awww...this actually reminds me of two characters in the book I'm trying to write. You did an excellent job on this... I love the detail, and the emotion it seems to radiate. It almost looks as if the fox may be dying, or something and the girl doesn't want to let him go. Aww.

I'm really glad you like it, I'm still not too familiar with drawing things with a realism to them and this drawing was the first picture I'd done with a touch of realism to it that I actually liked myself, so it's nice to know you can get a real feeling from it too.

Really nice use of shading.
And I like how you've used a small amount of lines in the hair and left little open spaces to create a solid body of hair.
I tend to do the opposite and fill it all with hair lines >_>
