Hey guys and gals! Mr.O here with a short review on a classic Christmas movie that has...little to do with Christmas. It has tons of action, American humor and gun fire. Oh and a couple of explosions totally NOT brought about by Michael Bay! I first saw this after a nice road trip to El Yunque and I have to honestly say it is an awesome classic movie despite its little goofy moments.
For those who don't know, Die Hard takes place sometime during December in Los Angeles and focuses on John McClane, a policeman from New York who takes a plane to LA 'cause he has a wife to reconcile with in a very tall building or skyscraper. There's a Christmas going on, but it gets interrupted by a group of German terrorists who attack the Nakatomi Corporation tower and demand the release of several criminals all over the world. It appears that John went into the wrong place at the wrong time so it is up to him to defeat the terrorists. For more info, watch the movie!
Of all possible cast choices, I am glad they chose Bruce Willis. He has the grit and face of an action movie star so it works for him in this film. The story is sorta action cliche, but I love it anyways and the character dialogue can be goofy yet badass in its own way. Heck, this cast of characters is likeable indeed, ranging to John's no care for authority attitude and Argyle's chatty personality to Hans' charming villainous persona. THAT is the definition of a real villain, threatening and deadly, but also well mannered and educated. Of course there are scenes that wouldn't happen in real life, but they still entertain me and at times make me laugh! It also has a good soundtrack, but my absolute favorite song from that movie is Let It Snow. It has that Jazz feeling and it makes me feel warm while also thinking of the 80s. Do I want to go to the 80s? Maybe, perhaps to experience the outstanding events that occurred back then like that balloon festival.
That is all from me, Mr.O and if this is their idea of a Christmas movie, I gotta be there for their Valentines film!
