The city in the background is great, but maybe according to the timing displayed as such you could've used more color in the buildings, such as making them grey and not fully black as if it were completely nighttime. Also maybe making them more 3-D should've crossed your mind as well. Other than that the background is excellent. The shadowing is kind of off, there is lighting on both sides of the character when there only should be on one. The sun only comes from one direction at the time showed. It isn't perfect, but it is captivatingly astoundingly cool.

The light is coming in from between the mountains so its coming from behind him and wrapping around his body. Light also bounces off of surfaces such as water and rocks so if would reflect back onto him. The reason the buildings were 3D is because this is a point commission and therefor not my BEST work, it would have taken to long to make them all look 3D, and as far as the darker color they looked odd when I made them a lighter grey.
I will mark this crit as fair because what you said about the buildings was correct but when you critique please make sure you know what your talking about. And when you rate the stars make sure they match what you say in the crit because saying "it is captivatingly astoundingly cool" It probably should have rated higher than 2 1/2 stars on impact

Can I take a moment to say that I LOVE YOUR SHADING. Most people use black or gray for shading, but you actually practice different colors with yours and it looks GOOD. I LOVE YOU FOR THIS. <3

a lot of people dont know what color to use for shading, its a color on the other side of the color wheel from your light source. If not then purple generally works just as well :3

I shade in red a lot cuz its on the opposite side of the color wheel from the sky color *rambles about the color wheel for ten min*. I had some trouble with the legs but I'm happy with how they turned out, I'm surprised I've never seen this char b4, he's so cute <3
