This is a multi part series about Eijiro's transition and his struggle to find himself. "Alright, Mr. Bakugo. Your implants have both been activated. I'm going to attach both of your sound processors and both of your transmitters now." The doctor signs to Bakugo. Bakugo reaches out his hand for Eijiro and Eijiro scoots his chair forward and grabs his hand, holding it and rubbing it as he watches the doctor attach the equipment to both sides of Bakugo's head.

"Alright. I'm going to turn them on one at a time and do some testing so you don't get overloaded." The doctor signs, turning to look at Eijiro. "Please be totally silent until I give you the go ahead."

Eijiro nods and watches as the doctor turns on Bakugo's left implant first.

"Alright, can you hear me?" The doctor asks, and Bakugo shakes his head.

"I can hear you but barely. You're very muffled." Bakugo says. The doctor checks the transmitter and processor and adjusts channels.

"Alright we had you adjusted a little low. How about now?"

Bakugo smacks his hand over his ear and groans. "That's way too damn loud!"

"Perhaps somewhere here?" The doctor says as he adjusts him again, this time on the middle channel. Bakugo relaxes and sighs, rubbing his ear.

"That's a lot better. I can hear you but it kind of sounds like I'm in a tunnel. You're kind of echoing." Bakugo says as the doctor moves to his right side.

"That's normal. It will take some time for you to get readjusted to hearing so everything is going to sound weird for a while but I promise everything will start sounding better the more you get used to the implants. Let's work on your right ear now. I'm going to temporarily disconnect your left side so we don't get any interference and so we can adjust your right side properly." The doctor says, reaching up and disconnecting the transmitter and sound processor. He quickly turns on Bakugo's right side and backs up from him slightly.

"Can you hear me?" The doctor asks, and Bakugo shakes his head no. The doctor switches the implant to the next channel and steps back.

"How about now?" The doctor inquires, and Bakugo rolls his eyes.

"This is really frustrating. I can hear you but it sounds like I have my head underwater and you're trying to talk to me while you're above the water." Bakugo squeezes Eijiro's hand, feeling himself getting frustrated.

"Let's try the highest channel on this ear. This ear seems to be more difficult and fussy than the other." The doctor says, adjusting the implant to the highest channel possible. "How does this sound?"

"That sounds good. You're still kind of echoing but you said that's normal." Bakugo says, and the doctor nods.

"I'm going to reconnect your left implant and see how they are working together. I'm going to ask Eijiro to speak for this but please don't say anything until I give you a thumbs up." The doctor says, reaching up to reconnect his left side.

"Okay, are you getting any interference? Anything like that?" The doctor asks, and Bakugo shakes his head no.

"No interference. I can hear your voice clearly aside from the echo."

"Okay." The doctor says, giving Eijiro the thumbs up. Eijiro scoots his chair around in front of Bakugo and grips both of his hands as he looks into his eyes.

"Hey baby, can you hear me?" Eijiro asks, watching as Bakugo's eyes fill with tears. "What? Do I sound that bad?"

"No. You sound wonderful. I can hear you! Oh my god I can finally hear you!" Bakugo exclaims, leaning forward and grabbing Eijiro's face, pulling him into a kiss as he continues to cry. Eijiro wipes Bakugo's tears away and pulls back from the kiss, rubbing Bakugo's hands with his thumbs.

"I love you, Bakugo." Eijiro admits, and Bakugo starts bawling even harder.

"That sounds so amazing. I love you too, Eijiro. So fucking much." Bakugo replies, wiping the tears from his eyes. The doctor smiles at them and jots stuff down on his clipboard before looking back at Bakugo.

"Alright, you're all set. Going outside is going to sound weird at first. You're going to have trouble pinpointing sounds and distinguishing them so try to focus on Eijiro for now if you're in public or otherwise around a lot of noise. You will have several follow up appointments over the next couple months for any needed adjustments, hearing tests, etcetera. Otherwise, congratulations on being able to hear!" The doctor smiles as he exits the room. Bakugo grabs Eijiro and spins him around the room kissing him the entire time, his heart exploding.

"I'm going to have to ask you to talk me into my grave now. You've only said 16 words to me and I'm already addicted to your voice and can't get enough." Bakugo admits, and Eijiro busts out laughing.

"You counted my words?! You are such a dork! Don't worry, I will talk as much as you want me to." Eijiro says as he entertwines his hand within Bakugo's and leads him towards the door.

"Make that 37 words you've spoken to me." Bakugo smiles, laughing alongside Eijiro as they walk out of the doctors office.

"Just try to focus on my voice while we walk back to the dorms, alright? We can crash when we get there. I'm glad your activation appointment got scheduled on a Sunday. Neither of us slept well last night. I'm sorry I woke you up with that nightmare..It came out of nowhere and scared me so bad. It was so real....I could feel everything happening all over again." Eijiro says as Bakugo walks beside him.

"Babe don't apologize. I told you if you need me for any reason to come get me. I wasn't mad. I was just startled. I was asleep when I felt someone getting in bed with me and grabbing me so yeah I was startled. I can't imagine how scared you were but he's never gonna hurt you again. No one ever will again." Bakugo says, trying to reassure him. "Oh, just so you know, I'm going to turn my implants off whenever I go to bed just as a precaution to preserve the batteries so if I'm passed out in bed I still won't hear you coming in. Please don't stay away if you need me just because you're afraid of scaring me." Bakugo urges, holding Eijiro's hand as they start walking up the hill back to the school.

"I won't stay away. We promised we'd always be there for the other and we both meant it. I try my best not to wake you up but it doesn't normally go very well. I just really needed to be close to you last night. Other than Aizawa, you're the only person that makes me feel safe." Eijiro admits, and Bakugo squeezes his hand tighter.

"I know. I'm glad I make you feel safe baby. Do you want to come to my dorm and study? I know we both have some homework to do before tomorrow or Aizawa is gonna have our asses." Bakugo laughs as they reach the top of the hill.

"Yeah sure. I definitely don't want Aizawa jumping our cases. I don't like that man when he's angry. No one does." Eijiro shudders as they walk back onto campus and up to the entrance of the dorms. Bakugo stops Eijiro short as he tries to open the door and pulls him close.

"What are you doing, Bakugo?" Eijiro asks, and Bakugo doesn't even bother responding as he leans forward and kisses him softly, cradling his cheeks in his hands. Eijiro smiles and wraps his arms around Bakugo's waist, kissing him passionately. A voice behind them startles them and they pull away from each other, completely red in the face.

"Okay lovebirds, break it up!" Mina laughs from the doorway. "Sero, Denki! Come see this! There's two wild lovebirds on our front steps."

"Mina! Hush! You saw nothing!" Eijiro exclaims, trying to hide his embarrassment as Sero and Denki come up behind her.

"Guess who I caught making out?" Mina says, giggling at their red faces. "Things are starting to get a little hot and steamy between you two, huh?"

"That's none of your business." Bakugo says, his face red hot with embarrassment.

"I'm kidding!" Mina chuckles before realizing something. "Hey, wait! You aren't using a phone to understand me. Can you hear me?" Mina asks excitedly.

"Yes I can hear you. My implants got activated today. Everyone sounds like an echo right now but they said that would get better with time." Bakugo says, watching Mina's face light up.

"I'm so happy for you!" Mina exclaims as she steps out of the doorway and let's Bakugo and Eijiro inside.

"Thank you, Mina. Now please excuse us. We have studying to do before school tomorrow." Bakugo says, dragging Eijiro upstairs before Mina can even make a smart remark. Bakugo opens his door and pulls Eijiro inside, closing the door behind them.

"We may need to steer clear of Mina. She definitely thinks we are fucking." Bakugo groans, rubbing the back of his neck.

"If we told her we plan to wait until marriage she wouldn't believe us so just let her think whatever she wants, babe. It doesn't really bother me." Eijiro says, sitting next to Bakugo on the bed. He brushes Bakugo's hair out of his face with his hand and kisses him softly.

"I know. I wouldn't tell her anything anyway because she would start questioning why we are waiting. I don't want you to have to relive your trauma or have to explain yourself to anyone. I respect that you want to wait until marriage but other people are nosey bastards, unfortunately." Bakugo says, laying his head against his hand as he flips through the papers laying on his bed.

"You know if you don't want to wait for me, I understand. You can leave. I'd prefer you did it before I get more attached to you." Eijiro says out of no where and Bakugo's eyes snap up to glare at him.

"Babe, what the fuck? Where is this coming from?" Bakugo asks, his voice irritated.

"I just....I don't know, Bakugo. I'm just scared you're going to get tired of waiting for me and you're either going to leave me or.." Eijiro stammers, tears building in his eyes as his body starts trembling. Bakugo quickly grabs him and holds him close, trying to make him feel safe.

"Eijiro, baby, please calm down. I genuinely don't care that you want to wait. I understand. I won't get tired of waiting. I'm never going to leave you or force you to do anything. I love you with my entire heart and soul and I will wait for you, no matter how long it takes. I never want to do anything to hurt you or jeopardize our relationship. I want to marry you and spend the rest of my life with you one day. Sex isn't important to me. I look at the bigger picture. When I think of the future, I think of us getting married, maybe having a couple of kids and then growing old together. Sex isn't even anywhere in my thought process." Bakugo says, kissing the top of Eijiro's head.

"I don't understand why you're so good to me, Bakugo." Eijiro admits, crying into Bakugo's chest. "I want to marry you someday too. I would like kids one day but we can figure that out after we get married. I'm sorry I'm always breaking down like this."

"Baby, it's fine. I'm here to help you, nurture you and love you. You've gone through so much pain in your life. I understand why you're cautious and afraid and untrusting. I hope one day I'm able to prove to you that I'm never going anywhere. You deserve all the love in the world and I'll die making sure you get it." Bakugo says, wrapping his arms tighter around Eijiro as he rocks back and forth with him slightly.

"Please don't talk about you dying. My heart can't take it." Eijiro admits, curling himself up tightly in Bakugo's arms.

"I'm sorry honey. Are you okay to start studying now? We really do have to get all this homework done so Aizawa doesn't murder us." Bakugo asks, groaning as he looks over at the pile of homework.

"Sure, we can start studying." Eijiro says, pulling out of Bakugo's arms and sitting down beside him, grabbing his own stack of homework. "Let's get this over with."
