I decided to use green since i wanted a softer look. pink and redder shadows got lost in the warm oranges of the petal and i try to never use grey or black for shadows.Β
i normally tend to go toward blues or purples.Β
in this case a blue or green shadow made the character pop up a lots better. (even if i did put a tiny bit of purple/pink shadow on the top of their heads for gradation.Β
same with the petals. a warm shadow on the petals looked a bit dull, so a cool shadow was actually making the orange pop out a lot more.
