I interpret this (the description) as someone wondering if humans are truly powerless or not. They bring up machines that humans use, making them powerful, but they also bring up uncontrollable things and unstoppable things, such as deadly meteors, that make humans powerless. I think the point of it was that humans are powerful in many ways, but are also powerless in many others.

I agree with you here! It's interesting to think about how humans are strong yet weak (like being powerless yet powerful). A human can survive terrible sickness, yet can die from an infection from a scratch.
