bstract work can not allude to something external to the work, that is, this work gives a new reality very different from the one we see. For this reason, abstract art is the one that replaces all kinds of figuration (Landscapes, figures, objects, geometric forms, etc.). where the names of abstruse artists such as Paul Gauguin, Guillermo Jiménez Sáenz, Gabino amaya cacho, Edna Andrade, Paul Cézanne, Sérvulo Gutiérrez, Alvaro Suárez Vértiz among Therefore, abstract art does not consider the need to make a figurative

This can be abstract, in category, yet the very word means a simplification. A sphere is an abstraction of something physical that is mostly spherical. And in this I created form even while maintaining the focus to be unfocused... the constant desire while making this was to make it mostly without concern for meaning, and also without Dimension. By the latter, often we draw a landscape and that landscape has near-and-far, and in this I explicitly wished to let it be "Transversive," which is, see-through, and flexible to perception saying "this is foreground. No it's background."

"Abstruse" means difficult to comprehend. Yet if it is actually abstract, there is nothing to comprehend about it. This piece is complex, but if you try to determine explicit forms from it, mostly I will reply with "Oh it was in the vocabulary of form from which also my dreams came from."

thank you Yeah not to sound bizarre, but i kinda "processed" out the whole thing in about 9 hours. I hope some day it's remembered like the works of MC Escher But in many ways its very rudimentary. Y'never know until you try

Wow. That DEFINITELY would have taken me longer than nine hours. Still, it looks great!

Re-reading your comment that this must have taken a long time, I want to say it was done with pleasure. As a person writes in a journal, this "doodle" that is admittedly more artful than a normal doodle was a rumination of my psyche, or a meditation there-of.

I love the design and abstraction, the stippling must have taken forever. Since you asked, I see a nose, an alligator, a monster, a fried egg, a fish, an eel, a foot, a heart, a tooth, the profile of a tiny face, a hind paw...are there any intentional hidden images?

OxxyJoe In reply to SophieShimazu [2011-08-11 04:26:54 +0000 UTC]

Thank you. It took one sitting, but it was a very intense one. I intended to show contrast, scope, (abstract quality) - but as for content, I truly wanted to let it "formulate" on the page. It took about 9 hours, I'm very proud of the result, and I have yet to (my) satisfaction done another like it, though I've done several since of a "lesser intensity." I was simply quite impassioned while doing this, and it was my first major pointillism, drawing from an understanding of gradients/shading with pencil that I developed when I was younger. Thanks for checking it out

Oh my gosh that's amazing! NINE hours? That is long for one sitting but you got a lot done! I wish I was as productive. I really like how you did not plan out the images and just sort of let it form itself and take on a life of its own. Very cool!

Thank you!! It's one that I'm really fond of. I wanted to show something with scope and tension and it was the first "page-full" pointillism I did like this.

It was about 9 hours... maybe up to 12, not much more though. I remember the intensity I was feeling when I did it. I felt pretty triumphant when I finished it, and this is the first edge-to-edge pointillism I've done. I've done about 10 or so more since then, some were never completed, and some I've uploaded.

Thanks for your observation! I certainly felt something in my bones when I was doing it... the ache of consistent movement, in fact lol.

Hm, do I see some pointillism here? Because this is pretty bad ass. How long did I take you to complete this piece? I just about love the types of values you have achieved here: all from dark to light and all the delicious variations in between. I keep thinking I see ears, teeth and noses and folds and fingers. I love it. Stuff like this is rare on dA, for the love of god: keep it up!

OxxyJoe In reply to elektrozelle [2010-08-20 13:22:48 +0000 UTC]

Thank you so much for such a wonderful evaluation! This took approximately 9 to 10 hours, and it's from a sketchbook, so the size is 8x11 I believe.

It was the first of all the full-page pointillisms where I leave no "edge" but draw to the edges of the page. And it was challenging, because of the strain on my hand and wrist,(consistent dotting can do that...) but, I also enjoyed the exercize of concentrating and filling the page with definition.

Thanks mucho for your appreciation!!

interesting, I'm amazed you have so much patience to pointilism this when there is no praticular image you're persuing.

AtarAtis In reply to OxxyJoe [2010-08-16 08:08:51 +0000 UTC]

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and I believe also the time one takes to persue it

The way you draw allows for minds to piece their own ideas together, one will see what one's brain links to first. Some find it scary to let loose so they might turn away or simply not see anything.
It is natural for people to see faces and human shapes. and the rest well.. see what else comes your way I guess !

Why thank you! I believe... that aliens are a partly homogenized representation of ourselves. Sort of like if people were turned into paint and poured into a special icetray, the "alien" form is what would pop out. They may actually be real, but they certainly will be unmistakably alien.
