OH MY GAWD. Ok first...I shaded this using a new method. Layer modes. Who knew?? (probably everyone?) 10/10 would recommend using that method if you don't already. Super easy for noobs. Second...y'all! I PAINTED a background! And it doesn't look like crap, or half-assed...or just..like literally all my other backgrounds? lol Have no idea what I'm doing. But it looks good (ish) so I'll settle and work to improve!

This is so amazing! I absolutely love your art style: the colors and lineart is so crisp and clean, your expressions and composition are so perfect, and the background looks so natural!

And I'm still squinting all over your cell shading - what is this secret technique you speak of?

eeee thank you! this took me hours haha I do need to fix his skintone tho xD looks a bit...ashy

oh! ok. so. basically I just colored the lineart one solid color and locked it. then did a clipping mask layer over it on multiply with the opacity on 50% or so. then just...scribbled the shading in wherever in a single color then ofc...do more layers under the shadow layer to block in all the flat colors. then voila! magic shading!

Skin seems to be one of those hard things that take a while to understand. He seems pretty good though!

Hmmm... you colored on top of the lineart? Or on top of a base coat clipping mask?
