Marionette X Female Reader-Chapter 1? Suggested by Mizik-the-Lost
_____=Your Name Here
A downpour soaked everything in sight. The only shelter was a far-off restaurant that looked about a mile away from where I was standing. I narrowed my eyes, but the darkness seemed to go on forever. I sighed. What other option do I have? I trudged on, almost dreading what I might see. A bolt of lightning pulsed down like a vein, scaring me out of my wits and sending me madly scurrying towards the building, so fast that I didn’t have time to read the sign. I entered, soaking wet, and sat down inside the door frame, panting. Then, a shadow loomed over me.
“Hey there!”
It was a tall man with short, curly brown hair hidden underneath a hat that read ‘Employee of the Month’. He wore a light blue shirt with a blurred name tag and dark blue jeans. By his voice and height, he appeared to be in his mid-twenties. He twiddled his fingers nervously and said, “Uhm…we rarely get customers, so…” Then his eyes lit up. “Oh, what am I thinking? You aren’t a customer! You’re that new Security Guard we hired, right?”
“Uhm…I-I’m not…” I tried to mutter, but the man interrupted.
“Oh, you all say that, but you work anyway. Here’s your hat; you’ll need it. The night shift’s starting soon.” He tossed a blue hat labeled ‘Security Guard’ on my head like a Horseshoe throw. Then he pulled out a blank name tag and started to write something. “And your name is?”
“Uhm, its _____.” I grumbled, narrowing my eyes. “And I’m not supposed to be here! I’m just looking for shelter from-“
“Oh, _____! What a pretty name!” the guy smiled and slapped the name tag on me. “By the way, my name’s Scott, but most people call me Phone Guy. I’ll leave you some messages and tips, so just call me if you need anything!” He slipped a piece of paper with a phone number on it into my jacket pocket. “Have a wonderful time…at the new and improved Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza!” With that he promptly opened the door and exited.
Oh god…Freddy Fazbear’s? Lightning cracked outside, illuminating the terrifying face of an animatronic bear, chicken, bunny and fox. I spent almost my whole childhood here until that rumor started spreading! Now I have to work here? I shuddered at the thought, but pressed on towards the night guard’s desk. On my way, I picked up a flashlight left lying on the ground. It strangely had full batteries, so I flicked it on to explore.
The place was huge, nothing like I remembered it! The floors and walls seemed almost new, and there were posters of Freddy and the gang everywhere! There were so many party rooms and even a Kid’s Cove! The one thing that intrigued me the most was the giant gift box in the Prize Corner. While I was in there, I saw the most ADORABLE Freddy plush sitting on top of it with a note on it. The note read in cursive: For you, _____. I hope you like it! ~Anonymous. Looking closer, I read, P.S. His nose squeaks when you squeeze it! Out of curiosity, I pinched his nose, and it made an adorable little squeak. It almost took my mind off the somewhat creepy atmosphere and the fact that whoever left this knew my name.
I settled into my chair and turned on the tablet, which had a large sticker on the back reading somewhere along the lines of-Property of Fazbear Entertainment. Misuse or theft of this item may lead to a fine or i__in__t d_a_h. The last part was unreadable by food stains and handprints of little children. It roared to life with a cute little screen that had different monitor numbers across it. One was a view of the prize corner, with a little button that said Press and Hold to Wind. I tapped it a little and nothing happened, until I remembered that I had seen a music box on the counter. I wonder what would happen if I didn’t wind it…I’d better do it anyway.
After settling down, flipping through cameras, squeaking the nose of my Freddy plush and playing with my flashlight, the phone started ringing. I pressed the mute button, confident that I didn’t need the Phone Man’s help to make it through the night. Every rumor about this place was fake, obviously! I would have no problems whatsoever.
Then strange music started playing. Whatever it was, it was ominous, and almost like it was warning me. I started spastically clicking through the cameras, lights and music box, until I realized that Bonnie-er, Toy Bonnie-was peeking at a ventilation system in one of the party rooms. Then I gasped and looked around slowly. The ‘doors’ on my left and right weren’t doors at all! They were vents, with no closing systems! I started to hyperventilate until I heard a clanging sound in a vent. I frantically dug through the drawers of the desk looking for something to save me, until I hit the jackpot with an empty Freddy Fazbear mask. I shoved it on and hoped the nightmare would be over.
Bonnie seemed to go away, so I let up the mask and checked the music box. It looked good for now, so I ignored it. My watch said it was 2:00, and I suddenly felt the urge to look at the phone number in my pocket. When I turned it over, it read ‘Your Shift is from 12:00 to 6:00. Good Luck!’ However, when I turned it over again it said something in big, red letters: A V E N G E M E
I screamed and dropped it onto the floor. Then, everything went ominously quiet. You could have heard a pin drop, or my heart beating if you listened close enough. Then, after moments that seemed to last forever, ‘Pop Goes the Weasel’ started to echo through the halls like a menacing laugh. It started out slow and got faster and faster at each passing second. I willed myself to cower under the desk or do something, but some urge deep inside of me kept me rooted to the spot. The music got faster and faster until it was a blue messing with my mind. Then, slowly but surely, it stopped like a broken record. I waited a few seconds and nothing happened, but I braced myself anyway.
Suddenly, a tall puppet-like figure colored navy blue with white striped sprung at me from the darkness of the hall. Its face was chubby and somewhat resembled a clown’s, with small red lips, pinkish cheeks and purple tear lines running off soulless, beady black eyes with a small glowing dot of white in them. It got closer and closer, but I didn’t move out of pure fear. I forced myself to sit there and display no expression while I screamed my guts out inside.
Then, as soon as it reached the front of my desk, it stopped midair, hovered for a few seconds, then stood upright and looked me in the eyes. Judging by comparison to the desks, it was roughly less than 6 feet tall.
The voice that exited its gaping black forced smile of a mouth startled me-it was like a six-year old child’s mixed with a glitchy robot. Every few letters its voice would buffer for at most 2 seconds. “You’re…not afraid of me?”
I managed to swallow and stare right back. “Uhm…I guess…no?” I squeaked, my voice barely audible, but somehow it heard me and started nodding.
“It’s weird…everyone thinks I’m strange or scary…but I’m not! All I want is friends!” It sounded like he was on the brink of tears, but I wasn’t even sure if it could cry.
Then it turned its head and laid eyes on the Freddy plush. It picked it up and stared at it before turning to me again and saying, “You…you got my present?”
I wasn’t sure whether to be more shocked or flattered. I think I started blushing, but I wasn’t sure. How could this, of all things, know my name and like me enough to give me a present when it barely knew me! “Well, uhm, thanks, I guess! I really love it…”
“Really?” It sounded relieved and happy. “It’s been so long…” Its voice trailed off and, as if it could read my mind, it said, “I’m not an ‘it’. I’m a boy.”
This made me even more shocked. “What’s the deal here? Can you read minds or something?”
He sighed and turned to once more. “I can see it in your eyes. I can tell almost anything about someone merely from looking at them…it’s a gift and a curse.”
His voice was filled with pain and emotion even when his face did not reflect it. “I’m sorry about all the animatronics…it’s my fault they’re trying to kill you. All my fault!” He buried his face in his thin twig-like hands and made a sound like raspy robot crying. The only thing I felt compelled to do was reach out and rest my hand on his shoulder. It felt freezing to the touch, but warmed up as his eyes fixed on me with an unspoken look of gratitude.
I couldn’t help but ask, “How…why is this your fault?”
He stared at me. “You really want to know?”
I nodded, feeling curiosity now more than anything.
He sighed once more. He sounded so sad, so desperate that I couldn’t help but swallow a cry of pity. He began his tale. “I used to be like you, a living, breathing human. When I was young I loved this place…I always wanted to be here every second of every day…until the worst thing happened.
“I was innocently standing outside the doors to the restaurant. My parents had dropped me off after they were done with work. Back then, the company had a low budget and Freddy was the only character, and he was giving cake to all of the children! I was left outside, however, neglected. I felt so alone, I started to cry.
“Just then, I spotted purple in the side of my view. A limousine-like car pulled up in the driveway and the window rolled down to reveal a horrifying man…he seemed innocent, dressed in a purple version of the outfit I see all security guards wear here Even his skin looked like it had a purple tint. His eyes deemed dull and his smile was wide and menacing. I felt as if I’d seen him before but couldn’t remember where. I almost got lost in his hypnotizing eyes, and the next thing I knew a sharp object was through my heart. All of my tears burst out of me and puddled around me, mixing with my blood. The last thing I heard was the Purple Man’s raspy laugh.
“Afterwards, I seemed to have regained consciousness but as a ghost. I witnessed the buying of Fazbear Entertainment by my murderer! When the place opened up again, the Purple Man bought the old restaurant and took my body! He then stuffed it into the gift box, were this animatronic was laying. When I came in contact with the suit, my consciousness was transferred to this costume-the Marionette.” He broke off here to take a few breaths and explain. “My real name’s Carl, but my parents would have named me Mari if I was a girl. I always use that nickname now.” Then he continued the story. “As the Marionette, I followed a Golden Freddy costume around the new restaurant. It was weird-that was the empty suit used by the old company! I followed it into a room and saw five children in there. He closed the door right as I slid into the room and crouched down, unseen. Afterwards he pulled off the mask and it was the Purple Man! You couldn't have witnessed a more heart-wrenching expression that the fear and anxiety on the kid's faces. He then proceeded to pull out the knife that murdered me and…” He shuddered and buried his face in his hands once more. “He killed them, too. Not just from stabbing them, he stuffed them into suits! Bonnie, Chica, Freddy and Foxy each had one children’s body in them, but there was one more left. Then footsteps echoed across the hall and, before I knew it, the Purple Man was being taken away. He shouted and struggled but they carried him away, leaving the fifth child’s body unattended.
“I felt so sorry for the last child, so I picked him up and carried him into the backroom along with all the other stuffed animatronics suits. I was able to bring the children to life inside the suits so they could control them freely, but at the price of cursing them until they had exacted revenge. Then they left, but the fifth child lay on the floor. I could see a tear on his eyelid, and then I remembered the Golden Freddy suit in the other room! I took it out and washed it off, then put the child into the suit. I didn’t even need to give life; he came alive from pure will. Be both formed a bond and a pact to catch the Purple Man and kill him…however, to no avail. We never saw him since…” He made a strange noise that sounded like crying.
I stared in horror and couldn’t help but feel a stab of pity pierce me heart. Without thinking, I started crying and pulled the Marionette into a tight hug. He drew back his arms, clearly surprised, but then wrapped his arms around me as well, patting me on the back slowly.
“I…I’m sorry about everything that happened to you…” I cried, hiccupping. He leaned close to my ear and whispered, “Its okay. I’m okay now. I met you.”
I stared at him, blinking back tears. “R…really?”
He nodded, a sad smile spreading across his face. We hugged for a bit longer, both smiling. It was a surprisingly sweet scene for a deadly animatronic and a normal human, but it felt completely normal for me.
Then an alarm rung.
He gasped. “It’s six ‘o clock! Whenever the night shift ends, we lose our self-awareness!” He stared at me and grabbed my shoulders. “I…I’ll see you tomorrow, ______, won’t I?”
I smiled and nodded, tearing up again. “I’ll be here.” I smiled and watched as he smiled back and the light in his eyes started to die and his body slumped. “I’ll be here.”
