So I ended up realizing I have an odd fondness for photographing roadkill... mostly to bring a major issue to our attention. I feel too many people pass by roadkill without a moment's thought, but we must remember that this was once a beautiful life we shared our planet with. We must try to keep our fellow neighbors from a gruesome death. This poor guy was free of any decay or odor, but his nose was bleeding; he seemed have been hit quite shortly before I found him.

Raccoons are typically seen as vermin, rummaging through trash and frequently carrying rabies and other diseases, but these creatures are worthy of respect for their notable intelligence. Their nocturnal lifestyle makes them one of the most frequent victims to death on the road. Keep a look out for those eyes!

Never put your own life at risk in order to save an animal on the road, but nevertheless put effort into protecting them from harm if able!
