Kudari’s Doctor came over. ‘He should be fine in a couple of days.’ said the doctor. ‘Kudari I’m going to go to ze gear station and manage it vhile your ill, alvight?’ said Nobori. ‘Ok Bruder!’ replied Kudari happily, completely oblivious to the weird glances he was getting. ‘I’ll ring you vhen I’m better.’
Nobori eventually got back to the gear station and slumped down on one of the benches outside the train. He still couldn’t believe what had happened it was all too much to take in. He needed to be more careful with his brother. Suddenly Nobori was interrupted by the screams and woops of tourists. ‘Oh my God!’ screamed a female tourist. ‘It’s Subway Master Nobori!’ Nobori sighed. Not this again. He wasn’t in the mood to sign autographs and talk about his brother endlessly for hours and hours. Nobori ran over to the train tears streaming from his eyes. He ran in locked the door to the front carriage and quickly pulled the blinds, then sat down on one of the seats. He didn’t feel like battling at the moment. He sent a message over the intercom. ‘ACHTUNG! ACHTUNG! ZE BATTLE SUBVAY IST CLOSED UNTILL FURTHER NOTICE! SORRY FOR ANY INCONVENIENCE!’ Nobori shouted into the speaker as loud as he could. Nobori lifted up the blind, peeked through and let out a sigh of relief as he saw everyone leaving. Nobori felt that he needed a good sleep and that maybe he’d feel better in the morning. Nobori drifted off without even taking his uniform off.
The next morning he woke up feeling groggy and tired. He sat up and rubbed his eyes drearily. Suddenly he heard the Champion Music playing. It was his mobile phone. He quickly fished it out of his shirt pocket and answered it. ‘Hallo Subway Master Nobori speaking.’ he answered half-heartedly. ‘Hello there Nobori. I’d like to speak to you about something important. Come around to my place in an hour, ok?’ replied the voice of him and Kudari’s old therapist Dr. Janelle. ‘Yes right avay, Tschus.’ Nobori hung up and put the phone in his pocket. He tried to process what had happened. He wondered what it was about. He smartened himself up until he looked like his usual pristine serious self. He caught a taxi over to Janelle’s place and rung the doorbell. Janelle soon answered. ‘Hello there Nobori, please come in and sit down and I’ll get you a cup of coffee.’ said Janelle warmly. ‘Danke.’ replied Nobori thankfully as he walked in and perched on the sofa precariously. Janelle soon came in with a cup of coffee and handed it to him. Nobori immediately sipped the warm substance. As he felt the warm feeling seep through him he felt much better. Unlike his brother Kudari, Nobori loved coffee he felt that it was the answer to all problems. ‘Danke very much Janelle, vat vould you like to talk to me about?’ asked Nobori quizzically. ‘It’s about your brother.’ said Janelle seriously. ‘Right.’ said Nobori worriedly taking another sip of his coffee. ‘He has obsessive compulsive disorder.’ replied Janelle calmly. ‘Whenever he’s on breaking point he will go berserk and get a massive amount of energy at one time, the side effect of this is that he will not remember what happened when he went berserk.’ Ingo sank back into the sofa and put his head in his hands. Suddenly Nobori remembered that time before.
FLASHBACK:
‘La la la!’ happily sung Kudari on his way home from school. Nobori wished he felt the same way. Suddenly their path was blocked by four of the fourth grades toughest kids. ‘Baby! Baby! Nobori you only have a silly little Litwick.’ taunted the leader of the bunch. ‘I bet it only knows astonish! Ha!’ Nobori whimpered and started to cry. ‘V-vell s-soon it-it’ll be a strong Chandelure! Zh-Zhen I’ll sh-show you!’ burst out Nobori. He suddenly burst into tears. Kudari tried to stand up for Nobori. ‘I am Kudari.’ replied Kudari bravely. ‘Anyvay you only have a silly Bouffalant! That’s real! You can’t face the truth! Ja!’ Kudari clenched his fists and stared at the bullies bravely. He wouldn’t let anyone hurt his brother. The bullies counter attacked with patronizing words. ‘Aww poor little Kudari, can’t even speak properly! Aww… Do you want English lessons little Kuda?’ replied the bullies in unsion. Nobori tried to run away but was stopped by a fist hitting him in the stomach. ‘Aah!’ screamed Nobori as a torrent of blood came out. Nobori fell to the ground shaking. The bullies snickered and kicked Nobori in the head laughing even harder. Kudari watched in horror. This was too much for him. He dropped his Joltik rucksack on the floor and cracked his knuckles. Suddenly Kudari felt anger envelop his whole body. It took control of every cell in his body. Kudari emitted a piercing scream and rose up into the air. His eyes glowed red and he grinned widely. He was enjoying this. He’d show those bullies. Swiftly, Kudari sent out a beam of red light towards the bullies. The bullies screamed as they toppled over like bowling pins. ‘Fu, fu fu…’ cackled Kudari. He slowly fell back down to the ground, toppled over and fainted. The bullies got up quickly and ran away screaming like little girls. Nobori slowly eased himself up and sat up. He looked at his own brother and his eyes widened. Kudari was in a terrible state. His eyes were closed, his overalls were ripped and he was covered in scratches and bruises.
Kudari woke up later in the nurse’s office screaming. ‘NOBORI ARE THOSE BULLIES GONE?’ cried Kudari. Nobori realized immediately that Kudari didn’t remember how he had beaten the bullies. Oh well maybe it was for the best. ‘Yes zey are gone, Bruder.’ replied Nobori giving Kudari a tight hug. The bullies didn’t mess with the twins for a LONG time.
FLASHBACK 2
Kudari and Nobori were putting away their P.E kits away in their lockers. Nobori glanced in Kudari’s locker. It was filled with Joltik memorabilia and posters. ‘Uh Kudari?’ asked Nobori. ‘Yes dear bruder?’ replied Kudari with a wide grin on his face. Nobori cringed, he didn’t want to ruin his brothers day. ‘Nothing!’ replied Nobori quickly. They closed their lockers and were about to leave when they were stopped in their tracks. It was the bullies from last time and they looked like they weren’t going to take any nonsense. ‘Right you little brats. Prepare to be hurt!’ shouted the bullies. Before either of the twins could react. The leader of the bullies grabbed Nobori by his neck and threw him across the room. Nobori’s head smashed against his own locker and fell onto the ground. He was knocked out. Kudari watched as the blood gushed out of Nobori’s head like a waterfall. Kudari screamed and back flipped. Then he shot a laser from his mouth. Kudari fell down and lay unconscious next to Nobori. The bullies ran off again terrified. One of the teachers rushed out seeing Kudari and Nobori unconscious nearly gave them a fit. Later both the twins woke up wrapped in blankets and bandages. They were both handed glasses of warm milk. ‘I don’t remember anything!’ giggled Kudari. The twins just high-fived.
END FLASHBACKS
This was a lot to take in for Nobori. He couldn’t believe that his sweet, kind and childish Bruder had these death dealing powers. He sank back even further into the sofa and a tear ran down his cheek. ‘I’m sorry Nobori, this must be a lot for you to take in.’ murmured Janelle softly. ‘But it seems you have OCD as well.’ This was too much for Nobori.
‘But I’m sure I don’t!’ burst out Nobori indignantly. Janelle handed him a blood test report from the hospital. Nobori grasped it firmly in his hands. His eyes widened as he saw what was written there and he started to shake violently. ‘S-so it i-is true…’ he murmured. ‘V-vell I’d better be going, danke Janelle, I think it’s best zat I know now.’ He shook her hand saluted and made his way to the door. ‘Um… Nobori one last thing.’ said Janelle. ‘I think it’s best if you don’t tell Kudari and look after him a lot. Never let him out of your sight.’ ‘Alvight, Tschus!’ replied Nobori as he got into the Taxi ready to take him home. When Nobori got back to the Battle Subway he immediately closed the Orange line, The Pink line and both Multi lines. He wasn’t great at double battles, his speciality was singles and it didn’t feel right taking Kudari’s Job. The battles seemed to go even more slowly than usual that day. What could he see after winning, winning winning? After the last challenger left he slumped down on one of the subway seats and fell asleep. Before he knew it he woke up. He answered his phone and heard the happy sound of his Bruder’s voice. ‘Hallo Bruder! I’m feeling charged up now! Just like my Galvantula! Zat’s real! You can come and pick me up now!’ said Kudari happily. Nobori giggled. Just Kudari’s never ending enthusiasm cheered him up immensely. ‘Ok Kudari I’ll be right over.’
Nobori ran over to his Bruder’s hospital bed. Kudari gave him in a tight hug. Usually Nobori would have got annoyed but he was so happy to see that Kudari was well that he didn’t mind. He started to walk back with Kudari. They eventually got to the alleyway just before Nimbasa City. What they didn’t know was that a mysterious shadow was watching them…
