St. Marys Church, Marienhafe.

The St. Marys Church of Marienhafe was built in the 13th century. Once it was a 80m high cathedral and had 2 sideships, but in cause of some financial problems of the local clerical institutions, the inhabitants of Marienhafe had to reduce the architectural structure. Now it is just 38m high and contains a small rest of the historical, gothical main ship.

In the midage, it was used as a castle too. The graveyard-walls around it still have marks of the old wall which stood there to protect the frisian lord-family tom brook, and their close friend Claus Stoertebeker, who used Marienhafe as a hideout.
