Awesome set of photos. Let me see if I'm understanding correctly, because these all look really interesting and I agree that light is amazing.
You set the camera to take a picture for x amount of seconds/minutes, and then ran around with the roman candle. Then you took your set of exposures and removed yourself from each frame? Is that correct?
Looks like you got to have a lot of fun doing these.

Nope, I set the shutter speed for 30 seconds on a tripod. I ran out, took a lantern, and "painted in the air" with it. Myself isn't included since I moved so fast.
