I'm trying to learn 3d coat texturing on my hard surface objects too. any tips or tutorials you could give me please?

How is the painting in 3dcoat? i saw someone use it for a bit before and it looked pretty awesome esp for blending colors

for handpainting its pretty sweet.
reason i really love it is because you can set the navigation to be similar to zbrush.

Thats pretty sweet:0 I've done retopo in zbrush a few times and it can be painful. I've tried 3dcoat once and it was pretty nice. Trying to justify getting it. Maybe I shall now:0 So you can do the hold alt left click drag for zoom in 3dcoat?

yes, hold alt left click for drag/zoom
its under camera>custom navigation

Very strong piece. Only minor complaint is the rust, more on the bottom ring. Looks like the wood texture is bleeding in.
But that's a minor nitpick. Very well done. Keep at it, mate. Envy your skil.
