Back in early March I was kicking around the idea of a Viking age D&D setting, and I figured that with spellbooks being comparatively rare, wizards would rely on mnemonics to remember spells rather than big pages of text - hence the runic tattoos. I drew these two and finally got around to inking and scanning them yesterday, then painting them today.

I think the Vikings used piece of bark and wood where they in scripted things instead of scrolls or books
