Description Just some fantasy stuff; nixies inspired by having a nixie show up as an NPC in a recent "Pathfinder," and a rusalka or drowned maiden.

Nice! I like the watery flow, and the nixies are adorable! ^.^ I like the Rusalka's look, too. More dangerous than your average maiden-based evil fey.

Hm, the Rusalka is interesting. Almost some sort of oriental vibe to it. But then that's probably just me.

I dunno, the nixies look more like semi-cute frog babies or something.

*shrug*

Hey, nice work though.

I dunno, that's still quite the compliment - "cute frog babies" comes pretty close to what I was going for!

*blush*

Um, sorry abut that. But, well.......

So, 'irate mermaids' or 'Cute Sea Witches' next?

Actually, what is your take on some of the older, first edition art renderings from places like the original monster manual, or heaven forbid ,the old original red or blue first edition books?

I think Mr Willingams art was fantastic. So expressive yet simple and clean line work.

Kudos to your amazing art work!
Cheers!

I actually don't really like Errol Otus' stuff.

I did like the Trampier stuff in the old Monster Manual - it was just a cool contrast, having these woodblock style pieces in the book. Appropriate for the setting too. The Trampier stuff I'm really nuts about though was his "Wormy" comic, that was just really gorgeous.

You know who I really liked who did 1e stuff (though not MM)? Jim Roslof. I really don't like his color stuff, but I thought he did kickass b/w art. He doesn't have an online gallery; I have no idea what happened to that guy!

Earlier than that is before my time, and later than that, well... about the time 2e really got cranking on all this cool stuff, I was in college, and nobody I knew really played 2e. None of us could afford the books! So I remember going into games shops and gazing longingly at all the beautiful illustrations in the Planescape books especially; Tony DiTerlizzi was my favorite 2e artist, I still love his old stuff. It gets me that I hadn't clued in about William O'Connor until really recently. He was doing some really rockin' stuff for 2e.

Yeah, so many great artists.

Best art for any monster in a D&D book ever is the 2nd edition monstrous manual's take on the Invisible Stalker.

Especially because it actually had an image credit in the book, too. XD

*scratches head*

You mean the plank space had something there?

Dang!

Yup. It had an invisible stalker there, duh. hehe

Seriously, though. If you look in the art credits at the beginning of the book, there's an image credit for it. Brilliant.

Yah, I remember it being blank. I just never bothered to look at who the artists were. I actually though most of the art in that book was a bit, um, sucky?

*shrug*

*sigh* Bring back William Willingham and Erol Otus. Those guys did some interesting stuff.

Cheers!

Agreed on the rest of the art, but man I loved that gag. hehe

Not familiar with those gents, so I must look them up, now.

Oh, let me know how you go?

I've tried on a couple of google times and come up with nada. But then my search-fu is weak.

Cheers!
