I love the colors in this. The mix of the sky and sea's blue and the fading gold of the sun is perfect. Too bad in NY, all you get is slate grey.

it's often grey here too.

the right time at the right place. beautiful capture... only thing would be that it would have looked even more stunning if you'd used a tripod and a longer exposure time... but that's just my oppinion.

Greetz,
fx

ahhhh that would be a good idea right enough! I was cycling though, so carrying a tripod isn't ideal. I was also on the ferry which tends to bob about a lot, but maybe next time I will try it from the shore

this is a stunning colour scheme and the water is so mercurial and a definite

paddimir In reply to parallel-pam [2006-05-21 18:45:21 +0000 UTC]

mercury in the water is not to be recommended
thanks!

amazing, incredibly dramatic shot. Beautiful shine on the water and the clouds are wonderfully heavy and dark. My only criticism is that your horizon looks a bit on the squiff

I knew someone would question the integrity of my horizon . it's just because Cowal is closer on the right than it is on the left. I feel I must mount a spirited defence it was taken on the blue line below this point [link] and looking slightly north of west. just beyond the grassy knoll

also check out people's exhibit A, the bottom of the clouds; they are mostly level
