Here's a comment that has little to do with your comic, but I will share because I think you might be interested.  My daughter drew a scene with a television in it for some sort of school project, and she put rabbit ears on it.  I said, "Have you ever even seen an old-fashioned antenna like that?"  She says, "No, but that's what TVs look like in cartoons.  How else are you going to know it's a TV?"  Which made me realize how design-starved our lives are right now, that there is no visual way to represent our new technologies without drawing a person relating to it for scale.  Phones, tablets, TVs, computers, iPods... they don't just do everything, they're all the same piece of glass with a frame on it.  Steve Jobs wasn't an "artistic genius" with a "unmatched flair for design," he was a blight on the landscape of the future.  I wanted the Jetsons, dammit.

Panel 6 is beautiful by the way.

I'm pretty sure even uncle Louie has switched over to so-called HD.  In truth the HD revolution has made me watch LESS TV because that goddamn high def stuff burns my eyes.  I can not get used to it.

When something moves more fluidly than in real life... isn't that defying the expectations of realism?

HD was a non-event for me.  I suspect it was a non-event for most rational people.  It only really mattered to the cellular companies who went scrambling like mad to buy up the open analog TV frequencies  that TV's switch to digital created.  So, it made money for our government.  To finance... some colossal waste of time, somewhere.

Cause money is what the government is about!  Personally I'd rather go lo-fi these days.

Here's a low-fi true story for you.

During a storm a couple of years back, my satellite dish took a shot from a falling tree branch and came out of alignment.  Calling any "technician" for a service call is one of my pet peeves, because their time is "worth" so much more than everyone else's.  So I looked up and downloaded an app for a tablet with the internal GPS and gyro that allows you to align a dish yourself.  Here's the awesome part: when you get too close to the transponders on a satellite dish the magnetic field disables something in the tablet that it needs to tell you what direction you're facing, so the tablet quits pointing the right way once you get within a couple feet of the dish.  I wound up realigning the dish with a compass, a protractor and a piece of string.  The only thing I used the "app" for was looking up the coordinates the satellite was supposed to be at.

That deserved a high five emoji.  It's not everybody who knows that simple trick.

And yeah, the only more troublesome irritating people to deal with than call-tech centers are dive-thru workers.
