PaganFireSnake — What He Sees

Description Close-up face shot of Cherokee, ml corn snake. With his eye, how you can see my camera lens, trees, etc I thought about Photoshopping a lot of that out. However I don't like to mess with photos much and I think leaving the reflection adds more a natural, non-tampered, feel to it.

Glad you like it. I was torn with living all of that in his eye like that or Photoshopping a lot of it out, at least in the pupil. But I also really like how you get the feeling that you are seeing what he is seeing through that reflection.

And I can see that you are surrounded by a lot of beautiful tall trees too!

Oh yeah there are TONS of tree where I live. This part of NJ is still pretty rural...quite a bit of wooded areas and farm land. I love that, especially in the summer when it's hot. They help keep things cooler. Plus I just like tree in general.

I love trees too! Trees are the lungs of Mother Earth.

I was a bit sad today that one of mine had to be taken down. But that's b/c it was struck by a drunk driver back in Dec. This fool hit a big oak on my property, swerved and then hit my parked Dodge Durango in my driveway head on! He's lucky it wasn't a person he hit b/c that person would have been killed...that is how hard he hit the tree and then my truck. So hard that he took out a big chunk out of the oak and did $4000 in damage to the truck! I don't like seeing any tree having to be taken down but in this case there really was no chose. It was pretty compromised and was bound to come down in the next big storm...forbid if it fell towards my house! But I do have plans on either planting another tree close to where this oak was or some kind of pretty bush so it's not a total loss.

$4000 in damage! I hope that person will be paying for it!

I get sad too when I see trees being cut down-or even trimmed. I especially love big trees and it's always a sad occasion when one of those has to come down. But I think it's a really good idea you have to give it a memorial by planting another oak or some kind of special bush in memory of this fallen oak...

Thank you. It's pushing the limit on my camera but definitely happy with how it came out. And it's close-ups like this that is why I am saving for a much better camera. Looking into the Cannon Rebel. Want a camera I can change out the lens so I can get a nice Macro lens!

Wolfyone In reply to PaganFireSnake [2012-05-29 16:21:21 +0000 UTC]

Well, then that is doubly an amazing shot if you did this with a camera that doesn't have changeable lenses!

PaganFireSnake In reply to Wolfyone [2012-05-29 20:29:01 +0000 UTC]

It's a Fuji FinePix S700 which comes with a built in 10x lens. I wish I could change it but even with that limitation it still takes some pretty good shots. But of course I want better! I'm not much into material things...I can care less about shoes, clothes, fancy cars...but I do like nice cameras!

I'm impressed that you could get that decent a quality of photo with that camera. Still, I hear you about wanting one that can change lenses. I'm pretty happy with my Nikon D3000, though I haven't yet invested in anything other than what the camera came with standard. Still it was a huge step up from my Nikon Coolpix, which sucked.

I'm looking into getting a Cannon Rebel. They seem easy to use, they are fairly affordable for what you get plus I can change the lenses. The one I want is around $600 and comes with a lens all ready so I will at least have something I can practice with until I can get other lenses I want.

I have the Canon Rebel print version and was very happy with that. So I'm assuming you won't be disappointed with the digital version.

PaganFireSnake In reply to Wolfyone [2012-05-31 20:20:47 +0000 UTC]

Oh that's cool that you have a Canon Rebel. I think the only down fall I have seen with the model I want is the video recorder...something with it not focusing fast enough. But I don't take videos so that's not a big deal. As long as it meets my standards for a good camera to take photos with I will be happy. Have you ever had any issues with yours? I know it's a print version but just out of curiosity.

Never had a problem with it. Really love the camera, just seldom use it now since it's so expensive to develop film.

PaganFireSnake In reply to Wolfyone [2012-06-02 15:54:38 +0000 UTC]

It's a shame that film like that is almost gone now.:/ Though digital is definitely easier, in all kinds of ways...there is still something special with film that you will never get with digital.

Wolfyone In reply to PaganFireSnake [2012-06-02 19:55:12 +0000 UTC]

I agree. I love film cameras, and miss getting so many photos to hold in my hand. But it is so expensive, especially when you factor in how many shots you discard because of focusing issues with moving animals.

With all his reflections, it's not hard to see why people think they're slimy

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

PaganFireSnake In reply to StarryOak [2012-05-28 20:52:48 +0000 UTC]

Corns in general look more shiny then some other species, hence why they can give that thought that they are slimy. However that is far from being true. Snakes skin is very and either smooth, like a corns, or rough, like a hognoses (who have keeled/raised scales).

StarryOak In reply to PaganFireSnake [2012-05-28 21:21:04 +0000 UTC]

PaganFireSnake In reply to StarryOak [2012-05-28 23:41:47 +0000 UTC]

Don't get me wrong...I do love the shiny look to some snakes. One of my fav snakes that I have his head is VERY shiny but the rest of his body is kind of dull. I have a photo of him on here showing that called, "Mr Spit Shined Head".
