Recently, I've gotten into My Hero Academia and I'm really surprised at how good it is. I tend to avoid over hyped shows for a long time, idk why, I just do lol. My husband really wanted to watch it so, we finally did! This was inspired by a more recent part in the manga, it's not a spoiler really, if you've read up you'd know what I mean.You can find me on:

We're in the same boat. I held off because there was too much hype but now I see why.

I liked Bakugo's character, but prefered Todoroki and Deku overall. However, I LOVED him after season 3. He's beautifully written, I love how the author points out typical shounen tropes with Bakugo and destroys them. It's really refreshing.

I know! Bakugo was like "I'm not friggin' Sasuke (Naruto)." He's just an incredibly rude, dysfunctional (HAVE YOU SEEN HIS FAMILY) hero in training and his motivation might be skewed but I look forward to seeing him mature (and Deku stand up to him more instead of kissing his butt).

I love Todoroki so much. He really grows on you.
I know right! I was like, "Please, PLEASE don't do this to me again. I can't go 300 chapters of trying to convince this dude to come back." Yes, his family is hilarious haha. (I'm completely caught up with the manga at this point.) His VA really sells Bakugo for me too. I was surprised to see that the Japanese dub wasn't as good as the English dub, that rarely happens. Yes, Deku reminds me of my younger self. I was such a pushover, so I'm rooting for him to not be like that!Β
Supposedly, Horiskoshi (the writer) wants to do a time jump like Naruto did, but make the show much, much darker when they'reΒ all grown up. I'd be interested to see if he does that, I think that would be a really cool idea.Β

Todoroki's a good kid. Man... his identity struggles wrought from abuse hit me a bit. He was literally fighting with half of himself because our parents really are our two halves. To see one hurt another does a terrible thing to one's sense of self. His dualistic quirk reflects that so well.
Time jump... darker? As if it isn't dark enough as it is! lol. We'll see. It all depends on how it's executed, my mind's open.

LOL, it was good for one story, but I cannot ever do that again. Not to mention the people that actually watched fillers on top of waiting for Sasuke. In Shippuden, if you skip fillers, it takes around 50 episodes before you see Sasuke again after episode 1. Too much D:
Right? I thought that was so beautifully written. A lot of people give him flack for a Zuko 2.0, but he has a different theme going on than Zuko did, which is nice.Β
That's what I thought too, but I'd be interested as well. I think he wants to maybe publish it in the older Shounen weekly, so maybe that's why? I think it's currently being published through the ages 11-15 Shounen weekly.Β
