I still think this ending was such a beautiful ending to a series, and Takahashi didn't even plan it out.I wanted the background to look more like Inuyasha’s Meido Zangetsuha than the complete darkness. I’ve been slowing showing Jared the full series, it’s really hard not to get nostalgic about it.

Oh no, ha. I was mad about the three year separation, I seriously thought they'd never see each other again. Takahashi really pulled at the heart strings there.
