WIP it! WIP it good!This is my next personal 3D project. It's an on and off thing... but at least it's getting done bit by bit.

If you're talking about the green, it's just some adjustments on the transparency, ambient color, and incandescence on the polygon faces. If it's the background, it's just an adjustment on the luminosity of the environment in mental ray.
I don't know if what I'm saying is universal (it probably isn't, I'm sorry). I do my 3D in Maya. It's the only thing I know.
