Oh wow, I read all of this and it was pretty thorough. I know this is old and you probably won't answer this but I just want to ask:
After reading this whole thing, from what I understood, with the update of the final song, the whole idea of the actors working to save fake Miku "enough times" to save her in the real world becomes irrelevant. Yes, they don't want Miku finding out and they work hard to try to do this but their actions prevent her from getting the true end.
You said she doesn't die at all, having killed them and accidentally getting reset, plus various other unknown timelines, BUT you speculate that she doesn't die in them. If she doesn't die, that means the actors saved her multiple times right? So why weren't they allowed to go back if they did their jobs? Perhaps it was because the mastermind wasn't satisfied or perhaps it was because they didn't learn their lesson that way but still? With the new information, I feel like their efforts seem... unnecessary and actually, counterproductive?
Can you explain this to me? Perhaps I'm thinking of this wrong?

The entire point of the alternate world was to give the actors basically a slap in the face like "hey, this is reality, deal with it" but their drive enough to accomplish the impossible was strong enough to keep them in the loop, and evidently strong enough to get them out of it. Also, you're right, it does seem really weird. At this point I'd say the mastermind had certain criteria for what it meant to "save" Miku (more than once, I may add- just because they made sure to keep her alive once or three times doesn't mean the mastermind was going to get them the happy ending), mostly because the mastermind put them in there as a kind of punishment. So yes, you could also think of it as the mastermind would only let them out if they were satisfactory enough. With that kind of setup, I'm sure the actors at some point thought about how counterproductive it all is, though if they had done nothing, it would equate to accepting Miku's death, which of course they didn't want.
Did that help? ^^
And oh, I'll be glued to this site for a while, so I'll always be able to get back to these comments!

Yeah, I saw these a while back and since this theory was made way before even the fourth song was even released, it had to be edited quite heavily to include the new info. Most of the old info is still there to see my train of thought progression, but I'm fairly certain the explanation of major events in the novel are also there (e.g. the missing page, the ending). Thanks though! I'll def comb through the manga sometime.

Hello there! Thanks for your explanation/theory about the Night Serie, it really helped me a lot! So, I decided to look for more clues in the videos and, I discovered that the script/book in Crazy night is actually Alice in Wonderland. When they flip the pages, if you stop or look really carefully, there’s Alice, rabbit, white rabbit, rabbit hole, DRINK ME, EAT ME and others.

Yeah! A fun fact: I've seen website layouts or document layouts where some template requires a text preview, but of course since this item will be available to the general public creators have to use some standard passage or default text (like when fonts have the "The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog" sentence). Alice in Wonderland is a source of stand in text that people use for filler. If you slow down the video for Crazy Night, it's actually one passage that loops over and over again. Alice in Wonderland, while appropriate in terms of matching the feel/mood of the story, is probably just filler text (so there isn't any juicy story details us viewers can read from there, unfortunately).

i wish there was a manga or anime to explain it all if ya know what I mean coz I'm not a a person who canlearn from reading I prefer watching or pictures(manga) plus it would make a great anime/manga and loads would probably watch/read

That's true, but this is pretty much all we have for now. Writing it out was probably the best way for the creators to summarize the entire story without having to gather a team for an anime production-that's lots of work! But I'm pretty sure people have made awesome manga snippets of the story here and there c:

Dang, there's a lot more to this song series than I originally thought. Thanks so much for writing this, it cleared up so much for me. I doubt I ever would have gotten half of this since I didn't realize there's a novel that accompanies the songs. Guess I'll have to get the novel now! (Assuming there's an English version.) However, there still are a few things I'm confused about. First, I may have missed it, but how do we know that it was Luka who tore out that missing page? I understand that someone (sans Miku) from the troupe must have done it, but Luka? (I think I'm just being dense and missing something obvious.) Also, the Mastermind...how do we know this person's dead? Does the novel say something about this? Since if this person's dead I've been assuming that they (Mastermind) is working through Gakupo. Finally, you keep mentioning a director, but this person's not the characters list you have at the end. According to the Vocaloid Wiki page, KAITO is the stage director. Is that who you mean? Or am I just being REALLY dense? Thanks again!!
Edit: Ok...evidently there's a manga too, according to Vocaloid Wiki. Do you know if it's basically the same as the novel? Sorry for the additional question...

Firstly, thank you for reading! And now, to address your questions-
->The novel (in English) can be found online! I read it via pdf download.
-> The novel says that Luka was the one that did it
-> The mastermind isn't dead. The novel hints that it's actually Gakupo, because he disappeared mysteriously not long after the event, but we don't know for sure.
-> I wrote this a while ago so changes were made and "director" was the term I used to equal "Mastermind" because back then I only had the first three songs to work off of and they sometimes used the term "director" as part of their usage of the terms for a stage play.
->I haven't checked out the manga yet! Although I bet it is still the same story.

Wow, I am hella late, but I'm still gonna add my comment because I'm garbage
This is super helpful! Really well written and detailed, too! Thank you for putting this out <3 But I do have a question- After Miku kills herself, the mansion is shown on fire, and she reaches out to a man's(?) hand-
About the mansion burning, does this imply maybe the false world falling apart, or gaining their freedom? That one seemed really obvious to me, but it's probably something super deep and confusing that is gonna fuck me up. Anyways, back on track- Her reaching towards the other hand is what confused me. I kinda thought of a few ideas, but it's 2 am right now and I think I'm vv sleep deprived-
My first thought was she, herself, didn't really accept her own death. She's asking to maybe be 'pulled back to life,' if that makes sense? I realized that this theory doesn't quite make sense, though, considering how willingly she committed suicide for her friends.
My next thought was really similar to the first one. The man is the mastermind, and I could only assume she's asking to be granted back to the real world, as well, instead of being abandoned in the false world. Hence, why the screen cuts to black before Miku and the Mastermind touch, and why it only happens after the fire- It shows that she was (meant) to stay dead.
My most logical theory is that it's foreshadowing to the novel's epilogue. At first, it seems entirely like Miku is reaching out on her own, to basically nothing. But, then the camera moves, and you can see the man is reaching back, as well. I can see Miku as accepting her fate, but she likely isn't too fond of being dead, and left alone in the false world. When the mastermind is pleased, him reaching out to Miku and her reaching back can show that she won't remain dead. This is also supported by the mastermind's pleased clapping, the words 'True EnD', and Miku taking in a deep breath as the mastermind claps, kind of like when someone who was drowning had been given CPR- It's her being brought back to life. Though, since she doesn't even die in the epilogue, it would more so be her frozen body in the real world taking in air once more.
Anyways, sorry for the long comment! Sorry if this was explained; Once more, I'm pretty tired. Thanks for your time! <3

By the way the part where the mansion burns is a part of the script...as they read what Miku wrote in the script they saw that she planned to burn the kitchen so the fake world would collapse...

Omg, well thanks!! And I don't mind long comments at all cause it's fun to read them xD
Firstly, After Miku kills herself, I originally thought the hand reaching out part was to signify that she died even when the mansion's inhabitants were so intent on keeping her alive too, which is like a message saying 'so close but no'. (An opposite effect of this would be if the hands actually connected, signifying a successful save).
The manor burning is basically the other world not becoming a reality for them anymore-like you already thought of.
The only reason why Miku committed suicide was because she figured out that if she keeps living on, her friends would never accept her death. It was sort of an 'I'm not ready to leave you yet but I have to do this for your own good' so you're right in the sense that she probably wished to be pulled back to life in that moment. (Which, she was, but that's for happy ending effect).
Technically, Miku isn't abandoned in the false world because this Miku is like a copy of the actual one, and yes, you're right again in that this Miku has to stay dead-it was part of the Mastermind's plan anyway.
You know what I pretty much just confirmed what you already said, but that's still cool and I totally agree with you!! These thoughts are really great!
Again thanks for the long comment and for reading~

pardon me for asking ( ´•௰•`)
but if the actor's bodies were stored in the coffin, then who was playing the roles? spirits? fake version of the actors?
( ͒ ́ඉ .̫ ඉ ̀ ͒) if this was explained sorry i didn't understand ԅ[ •́ ﹏ •̀ ]و

PaintDemColors In reply to Cooki3Paww [2015-12-04 22:57:53 +0000 UTC]
No problem. The roles were played by fake versions of the actors in the other world. It's like they transferred their consciousnesses to fake versions of themselves.
Besides, Miku did kill them all in Bad End Night, so how did they 'come back'? The book mentions that their real bodies were stored in the coffins, along with Miku's, preserved until they suceeded and returned to the real world.
Evidence being the part in the series where Miku sees rin and len as literal dolls, signifying in this other world they're not using their real bodies.
