Hello all,Profoundest apologies for the lack of content over the last year. I would go into detail about where I was or why things ended up the way they did, but I'd rather not.
Many many many thankyous to both Orphicallygenous and drwhofan that took over in my absence, as well as all of you kind folks who have been so very patient with us.
I've accepted all currently active requests and updated the gallery to reflect the new year.
A lot of the reason why this group moves so slowly (even in its best times) is because of the strict rules that we have mapped out: we check each and every painting for a number of things, we check each and every member request too. Besides this we also always leave a response as to why something may be declined.
What I would like to know from you, the members, is, do you like this approach? If yes, that's awesome! If no, can you tell us why and what you would like to see from us in the future?
What we currently have-
1 deviation per day per folder (1 for 2019 / 1 for Tutorials [although this does get abused])
Set to 1 Vote
Upload in batches once per day
What we can do-
Almost anything! Some ideas:
We can set the group to auto-accept, although that means that some works will not be appropriate for the gallery (drawings, photographs, and the like are regular offenders)
We can upload as we see them come through (these means it's a bit easier to access for the admins, although that means that you'll continually receive deviations perhaps throughout the day)
We would like to hear your thoughts (the good, the bad, the ugly.)

From my own experience as an admin and as a regular member. Quality over quantity.
I would leave the settings as they are, mostly to ensure the right artworks get accepted. That nothing goes into the group gallery what doesn't belong there.
The only automatic setting can be accepting members.

I'm trying to find a workable compromise so that the group can flourish because as of right now it's pretty unwieldy!
But I definitely agree that the quality of the works (as in it reflects the group's purpose) is paramount, which is the problem haha.
The same problems can arise with accepting members automatically. Sometimes they're not suitable for the group (digital artists, sketch artists, photographers) and they have flooded the message centre with these types of images, so it ends up being hard to manage from an admin perspective.
So I imagine the 'correct' answer would be: continue to monitor and scrutinise each and every submission and membership request.
However, if the last year is anything to go by: that no longer works in practice. There's no easy solution, is there.

In that case, maybe change the submission limit to 1 per week.
You lower the number of submissions and at the same time manage to monitor all of them. That way you also ensure that people try to be more selective of what they submit to your gallery.
Just a thought.
You can make a poll and ask the members to vote about the changes. Some are shy to write in the comments...but many like to vote.

I hope we can 'drum up' a few more admins for the group and leave the settings for artworks as they are.

That would be brilliant! There is so much that can be done with the group, but need people to make it happen.
