that's because the wraith is not a tank. the wraith is a mobile gun carriage, basically a mobile artillery cannon that launches plasma that's been super heated and shaped.

I'm going to attempt to make this using parts from the megablocks sets. I know exactly which sets has the parts I'll need. As soon as I can get them I'll assemble the serpent, test it out and tell you how it turned out.

The Wraith's real name is the Type-26 Assault Gun Carriage, and its plasma mortar is intended as highly-mobile artillery support. In this it succeeds, but as you have obviously noticed it is by now means an ample response to the M808.
This tank you have here WOULD be a fitting tank analog, and, if I may, I have suggested a name:
Type-45 Assault Tank; UNSC reporting name "Succubus".

Halo wise, probably not. Been mostly doing human tech these days.

So basically it's a Wraith with a particle accelerator?

Yeah, a much more direct anti-tank weapon.

3 things, 1stly, good design, it's in keeping with halo
that saidf 2ndly it should have a ghostly name, as al other covernant designs do, ghost, banshee, wrath, revenant etc.
and 3rd, the wraith is artillery not a tank (ok a tanks a kind of short range artillery if you wanna be pedantic, but its the same diffrence as a trebuchet (a catapult) and a balista)
but yeah not bad

Thanks a lot, yeah I wanted a much more tank design for the Covenant. Name would probably be different for an actually in game design. Thanks for the comments!

The Wraith is pretty much mobile artillery.

Yes which is why its a bad tank. This new vehicle is designed as a tank, making up for the Wraith's weaknesses. Thanks for the comment!

Yeah I guess but its a real crappy direct fire weapon lol.

The Revenant does not fit the definition of an Infantry Carrier.
And the Wraith fits the definitions of both Tank and Self-Propelled Artillery. It can do both jobs pretty well.

Not IMO, as SPG it would be fine but a tank needs a direct fire weapon mounted in a turret that can turn 360 degrees.

MissingMandible In reply to PaintFan08 [2010-12-05 21:21:11 +0000 UTC]
It doesn't need a rotating cannon due to its high mobility. When it spins in place, it creates a circle. This gives it the ability to turn with minimal space.
Our tanks require a rotating cannon due to their inability to turn in place.
Besides, the AA Wraith has the ability to fire straight.

AA Wraith is not a tank, its an AA vehicle.
Today's tanks can turn on their treads in a circle quite fast. However its still faster to swing the turret onto the target. Its all about speed of the engagement. By time the gunner has fired his round, the commander has found another, then (if he's in a M1A2) can force the turret onto another and have his gunner shoot.
It even applies in the game, think of how long it takes you to engage multiple targets with the Wraith vs the Scorpion? Real tanks have turrets my friend.

Not quite, the Revenant is more an infantry carrier, this is an actual tank. Thanks for the comment!

Wow, sir you are a great artest! I would be honored if you would give me permission to use this in my Halo fanfics as The Elite Empire's new tanks. I would include several scenes where they tear through Wraiths like butter and give you full credit.
