In this picture, Grogar and his followers have abducted Starswirl the Bearded and the Pillars, including Stygian, Tempest, Luna, Celestia and Discord. Grogar, learning that Stygian used to be the Pony Of Shadows, tries to convince him to join his Dark Alliance.Stygian: I’ll never return to the shadows. I would never betray my friends!Grogar: Friends. What friends? The ones who abandoned you? The ones who banished you?Stygian: Your heart is full of hatred and evil. It's probably very shallow of me, but I can't help but feel some Infinity War vibes from this picture. If they hadn't met just now, officially, then I have a feeling Stygian would be the Gamora to Grogar's Thanos. Though probably more like 616 Thanos in how he treats his family.

Grogar doesn’t kill Stygian in this story. Instead he sends him to the torture chamber along with Starswirl and the others while Tempest makes her escape.

That's.......not quite what I meant, because I wasn't referring to the MCU. I'm just saying what I felt could come out of a possible dynamic from the 1000 year era. I said 616 Thanos aka the nihilist who's motives are simple, but his wickedness is on par with the likes of Norse Mythological Odin in terms of how he treats others. Especially given what he once did to Nebula during the Infinity Gauntlet saga.
