I really like your Grogar better. He's so much more dark and intimidating. Plus your story/comic series is a lot more interesting than what we got for the final.

(The Canon Grogar would be without his Bewitched bell, as for him it would be an additional item and so, an unfair advantage. While your Grogar would have his bell, as it is his own source of power, so NOT an additional item. Nice homage to the original Grogar btw!)
It actually depends.
If the fight is without magic, then definitly Canon Grogar, as your Grogar has more human-like face, plus his horns have a more esthetic/cosmetic design...
The Canon Grogar has more practical, although also exaggerated, horns. If the two would headbutt each other, your original design for Grogar is more likely to get his nose broken. Canon Grogar's body is better structured for natural charging... If they charged at each other your Grogar would be seriously injured, even if both would be without horns. ESPECIALLY if the coming is that bit shorter.
Cool slightly glowing demonic eyes have their disadvantages in a fight.
(If you ever decide to read this for some weird reason, please please don't take it the wrong way! I really like your design of Grogar. His human-like features might make him spooky or perhaps even creepy for some people. Plus your design of his horns is what I also came up with while drawing my own mlp ram sorcerer OC... as in my idea for my OC's horns was similar to how you designed your Grogar's horns.)
As someone might notice(if reads & cares) this is ignoring the SIGNIFICANT age difference. Your Grogar might as well be fighting a complete corpse as far as we know.
This is calculated simply- your Grogar adopted many famous villains as a father, favourite of his children being Tirek. While Canon Grogar's tyranny was already a legend when Tirek was young. Your Grogar is of the time of Starswill the Bearded when his wife died... I guess the point is clear...

Now about the part that more people would be curious about, the fight between them if they had their magic and powers.
NOW THIS, is where your Grogar has more variety and advantages...
Since offering his soul to Erebus he is immortal, as promised he brings more would for Erebus to consume. From that deal he also got powers of necromancy... Which is an amazing power.(having that undead army would be a huge advantage and allow your Grogar to win against Canon Grogar who would be without an army...)(The necromancy is also a very nice homage to the original Grogar, that is the speculation about him being a necromancer).
Your Grogar has imcreadible speed... As of today, it hasn't been confirmed if Canon Grogar had/has the power of excessive (?) speed. So with magic your Grogar would be faster. An advantage in a race, no contest there...
Both Grogars have what could be considered super physical strength. Based on how it is shown/described, Canon Grogar is likely to be physically stronger based on his achievement when it is featured.
Being able to come back as a ghost is a great feat of power, one which your Grogar has clearly shown.
And other more unique powers your Grogar has...
Although the way the Canon Grogar gain power would give him a huge advantage in a story based fight...
That is, if your Grogar was sending his army and servants to do evil things, Grogar would become powerful enough to be a significant treat, but ...

Well there is the Friendship is Magic Season 10 Comic Book Series coming out in April 2020 so if we are lucky enough, they might bring in the real Grogar.

Not gonna lie: after years of having yours and other people's version of Grogar painting such a dark and terrifying image, I find myself less than impressed and a bit disappointed with the official version of the character.

I’m gonna be the defender here and say that I do like how they designed Grogar for the show. They still make him a really cool character, with powers that genuinely trump Tirek on a whole other level.
Plus, we’ve yet to see more of this guy in the final season. I’m bound to believe that as the season goes on, Grogar’s great power will be showcased more and more until the series finale where he goes all out. Makes us truly see him as the ultimate badass villain of G4 MLP that is truly is.
Its a lot like how the MCU built up Thanos before letting him be the villain for Infinity War. You hear stuff about him, and the impact he’s had on everyone. He’s behind everything, and is responsible for countless atrocities. You see bits of him, too. Pieces of his character, but never a full picture. Then, Infinity War comes at last, and there he is: The Mad Titan in action, and it’s every bit as terrifying as it is absolutely satisfying.
I’m 100% certain Grogar will have that same level of buildup, and it’s gonna make the Ancient Emperor of Equestria, and the Father of Monsters, all worth it in the long run when he finally unleashes what he can really do.
Case in point: I’m hyped for more Grogar!
