To me it looks as if she takes her soul to the reaper, without fear, stepping out lightly, like a dancer. And although she can not see it yet, behind the figure are all the other souls, she will be reunited with again, because she comes as it is her time.

I think the piece would benefit greatly from more thoughtful composition. Think about the focal point - where do you want the viewer to look? That's where you want to draw their eye. Right now I don't know if I should look at the one thing that appears to be non-static (the woman) or the big dark figure or the huge honking sparkly light to the left. Pick one thing that is the most important in your painting and then build all the rest of the composition around it.
Also consider the pose of the woman. I think it works nicely after all, but her hanging arm seems quite stiff, mostly because of the hand's angle.
Otherwise I really like the idea and I like the Reaper, nice attitude in very simple shapes. I like how delicate the woman seems to be placing her foot too, lovely detail.

Excellent points about the composition. For some reason I find it infinitely more difficult to do that well in digital than I do in traditional. With this thing I started with the lady, then thought that hey, wouldn't it be cool if there was this honking big guy in a cloak, and then that lead to the bright light (don't ask me why), so in other words it sort of evolved instead of being planned out from the very beginning, and it really does not work as it is. As for her hand that's hanging to her side you're right again, the position looks somewhat unnatural. Her stepping leg is also a little too extended for it to look natural, now that I look at it.Β
Honestly, right now (almost a half a year after I painted it) the only thing I think works for me in this piece is the the Reaper, the platform he's standing on and the colours on it. I might have to go back to this and see what I could come up with
