Just like a few others, I first thought this was a painting, then thought about a certain form of collage, and then noticed that it would have to be a photo. Any insights as to how you got this picture to look as surreal (for lack of a better word) as it does?

Yes, it may look like a painting, but it's a photo. I took the photo with automatic settings, so the ISO value was high (3200), which with the noise reduction filter gave it a bit painterly look. I also used Dynamic Photo-HDR to enhance the photo and adjusted the contrast, lighting and colors in Paint Shop Pro to make it to look a bit washed out. Then the photo is squeezed into a square format, so that's why it looks a bit odd or surreal.

I think it's a bit squeezed lengthwise, since the backs of the chairs are so tall, while the seat itself is so short... It's probably your brain telling you something is off

Wonderful mood... I visited Turku many times in the mid 1990's but did not get to visit this place - shame as it looks very interesting!!
