Description
'Bout time I start bringing some of my characters back
I've been wanting to for a while, I'm still very fond of most of my characters, even though a lot of them need a major overhaul.Kaito (pronounced ka-ee-toh) was one of my primary characters on my old accounts. He was the companion of my old fursona/avatar (named Morgana after myself lol, I was so creative.) He was a cute and tiny little aquatic dragon.
Pretty much the only things I kept the same from his previous designs are the aquatic and dragon parts. He got an entirely new body plan and color scheme. Two of my favorite things to draw are dragons and dolphins, so I morphed the two animals into one creature, adding some cetacean-like elements to the typical dragon body plan (namely the streamlined face/body and the color scheme.) I also very much like the color purple, so even though he's basically varying shades of gray, I wanted to give him a subtle purple tint.
He's a good amount bigger than his old version(s) as well. He's about as tall as an average person.
I haven't fully decided what to do about Morgana, my old fursona. I really only created her because pretty much all the major animal/dragon artists I followed back in the day had fursonas and I thought it was something I was supposed to have. I never really had a strong connection to her like I did some of my other characters (Jericho and Kaito especially, even though I didn't draw them nearly as often as I drew Morgana.) I'm honestly really loving how the new Kaito turned out, I think I might end up utilizing him as my new fursona and scrapping Morgana altogether. Or maybe I'll rework her design a bit, give her a new name... Who knows!
I'm pretty set on Kaito being my new avatar though

Here's hoping that orca dragon person doesn't come after you. Some people can be pretty batty about the 'closed species' thing. I think it's rather dumb, tbh.

Yikes, I didn't even know there was someone who had orca dragons as a closed species lol. I don't explore DA enough apparently.

It's probably fine. Yours is different enough. I wouldn't have even brought it up if all they had was the super-anthropomorphized ones. There is one oddball among the group that looks like a believable creature.
Hell, I've toyed with the idea of making dragons out of every animal and then just polish it off with orca dragons just to mess with her. It's not like it's a super original idea to put dragon features on an existing animal, much less so just to decorate the human form with various features from both.
Imagine if the Pokemon company or any other monster trading card series/game/whathaveyou acted like 'closed species' artists did. 'Oh, you're not allowed to even DRAW this thing I made up, by the way!' They have also been pretty good about leaving fanartists who profit off of their own skill and work alone, though there have been a few mishaps.

Oh wow, I LOVE his redesign! It's gorgeous: those colours and that wonderful sleek, streamlined design (which really does suit him if he's aquatic). I can't wait to see more of him
