Description A colaberative effort between , , and SSS (aka Phanom scaler.) (the guy who still needs to get a DA),  (for watching), and   (for criticizing them without actually helping.)
resulted in mass estimates for Several theropods, most impresively a gdi of spinosaurus that puts it at around 7- 8 tons. (I won't disclose the precise weight, you will have to stay tuned to their DA's for that )

so, who was the heaviest?
well; Sue the tyrannosaurus now displays the title of world's fattest theropod quite proudly.

what about the Mapusaurus Specimen MCF-PVPH-108.145 ?

if its 10% bigger than the Giganotosaurus holotype, then it would be 13.64 meters long and 9 tonnes.

That specimen is likely larger than Sue, but that doesn't necessarily mean Mapusaurus is larger than Tyrannosaurus as a whole.

You're right about the mapusaurus, but not right about the topic, giganotosaurus was larger than the Rex and was heavier, I own a copy of the dinosaurs grand tour book as proof.

Just checked, and the Mapusaurus is 4.9 tons, the Giganotosaurus, 7.8 tons. So nope you're still wrong.

can i see an online source for this information?

and which mapusaurus specimen is it talking about? also i was referring to the fact that Tyrannosaurus was probably heavier than Giganotosaurus.

1. I am not wrong. Second, it's talking about mapusaurus roseae. Third,it was five feet off from being Giga size. 4. According to my copy of the book, the Rex wasn't heavier, it was 5.9 tons, and as I said before, the Giganotosaurus, is 7.8 tons.
You make great a great point, but if there's any theropod (excluding spinosaurus) that is bigger and heavier than mapusaurus roseae, or Tyrannosaurus rex, it's Giganotosaurus.

is this book written by a paleontologist? if so who? and i would like to know when it was written.

in any case, its not as reliable as Hartman or Franoys.

im not familiar with most Mapusaurus specimens, do you know what the average size would be?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SpinoInWonderland In reply to kirkseven [2016-10-15 17:12:59 +0000 UTC]

Not really, but I would guess something like ~10-14 meters and ~5-9 tonnes just to be safe.

kirkseven In reply to SpinoInWonderland [2016-10-15 17:19:44 +0000 UTC]

do you know the size of the smallest adult?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SpinoInWonderland In reply to kirkseven [2016-10-15 17:22:56 +0000 UTC]

No clear idea since cross-scaling those disarticulated elements is a bitch, but maybe like ~10 meters or so.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

kirkseven In reply to SpinoInWonderland [2016-10-15 17:25:24 +0000 UTC]

so maybe 11.82 meters long and 5.89 tonnes?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SpinoInWonderland In reply to kirkseven [2016-10-15 17:30:36 +0000 UTC]

Maybe, that falls within the range. Mapusaurus is so disarticulated and hard to cross-scale that it's better off to just give a massive range to encompass all the plausible adult size estimates.

here's the thing, I highly value free speech, and I won't block anyone unless they are a real nuisance.
he doesn't seem to have posted more than a couple times on my art, and imo doesn't seem to have posted anything I consider all that harmful.

if you have a problem with him, talk it out with him and you two may find a resolve. or agree to disagree
I don't care, that's on you both.

also:

spino is only lighter than t rex by a little bit, my new spino may be about the same weight, if not more than T. rex, so take that new info into consideration.
