Description An Acrocanthosaurus feasts on the carcass of a recently killed juvenile Astrodon.

Acrocanthosaurus lived in the United States during the Early Cretaceous around 110 million years ago and probably was the apex predator of its time. It could reach a length of nearly 12 m (39 ft) and the weight of a full-grown African elephant. Its most characteristic feature were its elongated neural spines (Acrocanthosaurus means "high spine lizard"), which made its back more arched than most other theropods but did not yet form a sail like seen in Spinosaurus. Acrocanthosaurus is the state dinosaur of Oklahoma.

Astrodon was a sauropod with a length of 20 m (66 ft) and a height of 9 m (30 ft). It is the state dinosaur of Maryland.
