Description

Ctenochasma. Species: C porocristata C. gracilis. Meaning of name: Comb mouth.

Germany & France, Late Jurassic. Classification: Pterosauria, Pterodactyloidea. Wingspan: 1.2m. Lifestyle: Filter feeder.

I don’t know if pterosaur legs could be swung this far forwards but this illustration does highlight the disadvantages of attaching wings to legs (hardly intelligent design) but then everything in nature is just an improvisation on what has gone before.

One fossil of Pterodactylus from Solnhofen showed that the wing membrane attached just above the knee. Arguably if Pterosaurs landed vertically & didn’t attempt running on takeoff it wouldn’t be too much of a problem but you may be right.
