Very detailed armors and clothes but I think the constitution should be equilibrated a bit between the characters

Panartias In reply to Gequibren [2018-11-14 22:29:05 +0000 UTC]

Well, she is strong as well as dexterous - his stats - strenght and constitution - were magically boosted!

Gequibren In reply to Panartias [2018-11-14 22:37:19 +0000 UTC]

But he has almost double weight of body than her... that's more than magic, that's a Captain America boost

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Panartias In reply to Gequibren [2018-11-14 22:55:33 +0000 UTC]

Yeah - he started out with a quite normal weight of 95kg at 1.87m (strength 18:54% dex 15 Con 17) then his strength and con were both boosted to 22 and we thought that should reflekt in his body weight as well - Its now around 130kg - and yeah, thats twice her weight...

Which edition of D&D do you play, btw?!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Gequibren In reply to Panartias [2018-11-16 22:22:34 +0000 UTC]

I don't play right now, last time I played was in 2011 or 2012 with Neverwinter Nights 1 videogame. It has implemented the edition v3.0 but in the server I played the mods made some changes with hacks to put the rules of edition 3.5... and I really love that edition version. After that, I think the rules are worse with v4.0 edition and so on... but I didn't stop playing because that, I stopped playing because I was saturated about the game in general and I needed a break ... don't know when I will start again

And you which edition do you play ? the newest is the v5.0 I think...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Panartias In reply to Gequibren [2018-11-16 23:01:03 +0000 UTC]

I see - I followed the change of editions a bit, and yes 5.0 is the newest/latest edition.

All my favorite characters are fom the edition I started with: 2nd!

And in case you were wondering about the % after the 18 strength that used to be a dice roll (percentage) for warriors only that had an 18 in strength to see, how close to 19(hill giant strength) they were... (Marianne got 96%!)
All stats in 2nd edition did top out at 25 (Titanic strength, godlike intelligence) for (bosted) PC's and monsters alike!

Gequibren In reply to Panartias [2018-11-17 22:08:43 +0000 UTC]

I know little about 2nd, but I think some things are better than newer versions, like that issue you mention about top stats. Maybe my favorite version is some kind of mix between 2, 3 and 3.5 in my imagination

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Panartias In reply to Gequibren [2018-11-19 16:44:28 +0000 UTC]

Well I like 2nd , because that is the edition (and system) I started roleplaying with.
And some character concepts don't translate well from edition to edition...
...and I'm kind of attatched to my characters!

That being said, the new 5th edition is not bad at all (apart from very few things)!

Gequibren In reply to Panartias [2018-11-19 21:40:53 +0000 UTC]

Those things happen sometimes

Maybe some day I return to play with 5th edition (or whatever existing at that moment) but there are so many obligations, games, etc. and almost no time...

Panartias In reply to Gequibren [2018-11-20 15:23:52 +0000 UTC]

Yeah!

I feel you! RPG's are best when you can play in person with some like-minded friends.
And that becomes more and more difficult these days!

Gequibren In reply to Panartias [2018-11-20 21:58:34 +0000 UTC]

Maybe it's strange but I prefer a roleplay videogame like Neverwinter Nights for that reason not so fast, but it's more fast like tabletop game

Panartias In reply to Gequibren [2018-11-21 14:58:01 +0000 UTC]

I heared a lot of good things about Neverwinter Nights, but I haven't played it.

I did play a lot Diablo back in the day though!

Gequibren In reply to Panartias [2018-11-21 22:44:58 +0000 UTC]

I played Diablo 1 & 2 too, but they are no roleplay games, just hack & slash, kill, kill, kill and kill so, Neverwinter Nights 1 is thousands of times better in my opinion, it's the spiritual succesor of Baldur's Gate games.

Still, I love the soundtracks of both games

Thank you! I don't know this game called "Sorcery!"

I will have to check it out! Most of my works were done for D&D (Dungeons and Dragons)

Retsel-G In reply to Panartias [2018-04-17 18:54:17 +0000 UTC]

Oh I see, that's awesome!.. Haven't tried D&D yet, but my friends are playing it and it looks super fun..
Btw, here's a trailer link from youtube Sorcery! trailer if you haven't seen it yet.. This game has an epic storytelling.. I recommend it if you're into fantasy and medieval stuff..

Panartias In reply to Retsel-G [2018-04-17 19:44:55 +0000 UTC]

Thanks for the link - Steve Jackson is also responsible for GURPS (Generic Universal Role Playing System) so no wonder Sorcery! is good stuff.

D&D is fun - especially if everyone is one the same page, about playstyle and things like that. ATM there is 5th edition, which has some neat stuff (I played 2nd and we developed some hoserules to have a simillar effect)

Retsel-G In reply to Panartias [2018-04-18 09:11:40 +0000 UTC]

oh wow, never knew that.. that explains the gameplay style.. cool
sounds awesome... I'll check it out the next time my friends play..

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Panartias In reply to Retsel-G [2018-04-18 15:07:36 +0000 UTC]

Never mind - and I hadn't heard of Sorcery!
So we both learnd something new.

My advice is to ask, who of your friends is DMing and contact him or her first. Many DM's prefer a kind of session sero (where you can pick character class and backgrund) to introduce a new character / player to the game. (That can mean you both show up an hour early for example).
And don't be disheartend, if the DM thinks it is not possible to include you on the spot (probably because the group is deep in a dungeon or in the middle of a fight) When you are interested, any dm worth his salt will find a way to include you at the next possible time.

Retsel-G In reply to Panartias [2018-04-19 02:22:15 +0000 UTC]

Yes.. I love it when I learn something new..
you're right.. whenever I see them play, they're so into it like they're inside the game world.. I used to play trading card games before and that's exactly how I felt.. it was awesome.. Thanks again! you're awesome

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Panartias In reply to Retsel-G [2018-04-19 09:35:38 +0000 UTC]

Me too!

Your friend's group sounds awesome - immersion is important!

What trading card games did you play? I played a little bit of "Magic the Gathering"
and I know Yu-gi-oh from the tv-show.

Roleplaying games (especially in person) are even better imo!
I think you will love it!

Retsel-G In reply to Panartias [2018-04-19 14:30:37 +0000 UTC]

yeah they play a lot of table top games.. I did joined them once while having some drink, I forgot the name of the games we played lol.. but it's not dnd..

I played a lot of yu-gi-oh when I was in elementary and a lot of pokemon during highschool.. it was so much fun.. I remember we have a friend who's like a merchant who sells rare and awesome cards.. we would visit him and trade with him.. sometimes we would challenge him to a duel and have a rare card as a reward... I wanted to try Magic the Gathering before but it wasn't very popular from where I'm from..

Yes i love rpg's haven't tried rpg in person tho.. what is it like?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Panartias In reply to Retsel-G [2018-04-21 11:06:19 +0000 UTC]

I see you have already tried many games - that will help you for in person rpg's as well.

And it is fantastic! Especially with a good DM and dedicated players.
It is like watching an interactive movie or reading a book while writing the story -
and doing so with friends and having a quality time!

Retsel-G In reply to Panartias [2018-04-26 20:32:33 +0000 UTC]

I feel like I've already tried that before.. we did a lot of roleplaying as part of our extracurriculars.. theater-like with scripts, on-the-spot, and even short films.. I really like on-the-spot role playing and short films, it forces you to be really creative.. I also heard about text-based role-playing.. haven't tried much, I'm a bad writer..haha

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Panartias In reply to Retsel-G [2018-04-27 11:02:03 +0000 UTC]

That sounds like you are already well prepared for roleplaying.

You will probably have a blast with D&D!

I haven't tried text based roleplaying either, but I have written some stuff in character:

Unusual Ways to Fight MonstersI give you this mini-sequel of several unusual, but not totally serious ways to fight D&D monsters (written in character). I hope you enjoy the read – and feel free to contribute!
How to Fight Red Dragons:
The person who slays a dragon – especially a red one – is often celebrated as a hero. In my opinion, the killing of a single dragon is – apart from the danger to your own life – quite futile and ineffective. In the long run, the most effective way to decimate a species is to diminish its food source. As everybody knows, red dragons eat virgins.
I’m sure you will agree with me, that this kind of dragon-slaying is much less dangerous and more importantly, much more fun. Okay, it’s not totally without bloodshed - but most men are already proficient with the necessary “weapons”. Let’s take up the fight and conquer the red dragons together.  I’m convinced there is a hero in every one of us!
In short:

(probably more funny, if you have already played a bit)

Which one is her husband, the sword or the dude?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Panartias In reply to Utkudakid [2017-06-29 13:25:56 +0000 UTC]

Also she clearly is a sword-maiden, the dude is her husband. The sentient sword belongs to him - kind of.
I did draw it between the two characters, because she is a bit jeallous of it (it can communicate telepathicly with her hubby).

I think, I alredy shared the story here, how Marianne and Saphir became a pair: At first he was impressed by her and liked her, but she didn't return his feelings.
Then Saphir was lucky enough to slay a red dragon great wyrm together with another, higher level party. So he hired Marianne to make him a set of dragon hide armor (She is an armorsmith among other things) Her price were enough scales for a second set of armor.
And with frequent try it on's for the custom fitted armor, one thing led to another...

Haha!
I guess the sentient sword is sorta a homewrecker
I didnt know the backstory though,it was cool!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Panartias In reply to Utkudakid [2017-06-29 21:16:45 +0000 UTC]

Exactly! Warriors always have a close relationship to their weapons - more so when they are sentient. Fortunatle it hasen't a female spirit, or Marianne would have taken it to the next forge and hammerd it into a lump of metal...
