'Cause he IS Shiba. I bet Kubo's gonna explain that (though, in my opinion, it's pretty easy to figure out). Wonder why Shiba Kaien and Ichigo look so alike? Wonder why Ganju looks a lot like Isshin? And who was Ganju talkin about while saying 'uncle'? YUP! All of them are family.
Also - it would be funny if Ichigo's mother is Ryuuken's sister or something.

It's not said in the latest chapter. So it's not 'official'. Though Kubo gives a lot of hints and I'm (not like I'm bragging) kind of good at noticing them and putting everything together.
And as for things that WERE in the manga - Ganju called someone uncle and it was somehow connected to Ichigo also it was said (I think that by Rukia and Ukitake) that Ichigo resembles Kaien a lot.
The thing about Ichigo's mother being relative os Ishidas is my wild idea (though long, long time before it was 'official' I knew she's gonna be quincy).
